Famed porn lawyer Michael Avenatti was temporarily released from Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan Friday morning.
Avenatti has spent the last two weeks in quarantine to ensure he doesn’t catch the coronavirus.

Avenatti was released from the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan around 11 a.m. ET, according to Dean Steward, one of his attorneys.Avenatti is required to surrender to authorities and return to the jail at the end of 90 days, Judge James Selna ruled earlier this month when he granted the attorney’s request for release.“We’re really gratified that the judge took the action that he did. He recognized the seriousness of the situation. Unfortunately, there are a lot courts across the country that have not. We’re fortunate,” Steward told CNN.Avenatti has been held in quarantine for the past two weeks at the jail to ensure he doesn’t have signs of the virus.According to the judge’s order, an attorney will escort Avenatti on a flight to California where he will serve the 90 days of home confinement at his friend’s house in Venice, California.A frequent use of Twitter, Avenatti will not be allowed to use the internet and he will be required to wear a monitoring bracelet.
Avenatti is awaiting sentencing for trying to extort $20 million from the shoe giant or he’d go public with damaging bribery allegations. He’s charged in Manhattan Federal Court with swindling Daniels out of nearly $300,000 for a book deal. He’s also accused in Los Angeles of screwing over clients, lying in bankruptcy proceedings, failure to pay taxes and other financial crimes.
Judge James Selna, who is presiding over the Los Angeles case, approved Avenatti’s release on bail after the disgraced bulldog attorney argued he was vulnerable to coronavirus due to a recent case of pneumonia.
