Parents Turn Son Away From Their Home When He Returns From Spring Break

“God knows what he had been exposed to”

The parents are worried about Coronavirus and who could blame them? They did make some provisions for their son.

Coronavirus: Springfield College student banned from his family home after spring break

Springfield College student Matt Levine returned to his family home in Nanuet, New York after a short stay on South Padre Island, Texas to have his father turn him away for fear of spreading coronavirus.

“I spoke with him every day and told him that maybe they should come home,” said father Peter Levine in an interview with The New York Post. “I was aggravated. The news here was getting worse and worse. Matt sent me pictures of him and his friends congregating outdoors and listening to live music. It’s the scene you would not want to be in.”

Peter told the Post that his elderly parents live with them and that he warned that they are high risk.

“God knows what he had been exposed to,” Peter said, according to the news outlet.

After a series of cancellations, Matt was able to fly back home. When he and his friends arrived, Peter had already thought ahead and stored groceries and $300 in cash in the trunk of Matt’s car, the Post reported.

“I love my son, but they were not sleeping here,” Peter said in the interview with the Post.

It sounds like the son came back with a gaggle of friends. And they all still had a house on campus, paid until June. So while this was framed as the story of a heartless father, it could just as easily be the story of a thoughtless son.

too little, too late dad. You should have taught him better respect and common sense when he was younger.

To Morning Sunshine: better late than never. Maybe this will be his wake-up call. We have to hope his stupidity will not be forever. I like to think of it in regards to the “lightbulb going on” – some folks have an on/off switch while others have a dimmer switch-it just takes longer for everything to click!

It definitely strikes me as a story about an irresponsible son. You don’t recklessly endanger your elders.

smart parenting, Florida Congressman Deutch went into self quarantine after his kid came back from Spain, Ted should have done the same thing. Kid was in a world hotbed.
