Leftists at U. Maryland Protest LGBT Talk by Conservative: “Rhetoric That Gets Us Killed”

“transphobic sh*tbag”

Matt Walsh of the Daily Wire is a conservative and a Catholic who takes his faith seriously. Reaction to his talk is a little over the top.

The College Fix reports:

Leftists protest conservative’s talk on LGBTQ issues: ‘rhetoric that gets us KILLED’

Activists at the University of Maryland are sounding an alarm of fatality ahead of a Monday lecture set to be given by Daily Wire personality Matt Walsh. The title of his talk is “The War on Reality: Why the Left has set out to redefine life, gender, and marriage.”

Walsh and Young America’s Foundation spokesman Spencer Brown shared an image on Twitter that shows a flyer telling students to stay away from the event and calling the author and speaker a “transphobic shitbag.”

Walsh’s Daily Wire bio describes the writer as “one of the religious Right’s most influential young voices.” He is known for voicing blunt views on Christianity.

The flyer calls the event a “threat to all LGBT+ people” and that he is “not arguing in good faith and advocates for the criminalization and institutionalization of all LGBT+ people.”

“This is the kind of rhetoric that gets us KILLED,” the flyer says. “We will NOT entertain ‘debate’ about whether everyone deserves rights and basic human dignity.”

This is easy to see as threatening anyone who dares to attend the speech. That’s it’s main purpose – to show everyone who’s boss. What the speaker has to say is, at most, secondary.

So, name me one person in America killed for being gay. When was the last one? (It has to be that someone killed them JUST because they were gay, not also because of a drug deal gone bad, or sexual fraud, or whatnot.)

Go ahead. I’ll wait……………….

Better yet, name 10 men who died because of some ‘gay’ behavior that cause medical problems. That should be easy enough, they’re dropping like flies. HIV and AIDs are just the tip of the iceberg!

1200/wk in the late 90’s. In the mid-late 80’s the Oberlin Alumni quarterly magazine pretty much had at least one 1980’s alumni obituary due to HIV/AIDS. Of course, effective and expensive treatment now means that it is no longer the 6 month diagnosis to death route, but of course, it also means that risky behavior has returned as well.

I’m sure that historically, gays were often treated badly in America because of their sexual orientation.

I’m equally sure that they’re almost never treated badly in America now, that America never treated gays worse than most countries, and that America currently treats gays far better than most countries — especially countries dominated by The Religion of Peace.

When you spend it looking through the lens of victimhood, I’m sure that life becomes an endless source of self-fulfilling prophecies.
