US Space Force logo stuns with similarity to Star Trek’s Star Fleet emblem

President Donald Trump sure knows how to schedule events and stage distractions. In an effort last week to keep Americans from being force-fed the clown show that is also known as House Manager’s presentation for the Senate impeachment hearings, the Trump administration rolled out the new Space Force logo.

The President cemented his support among social conservatives with a historic address in front of the March for Life crowd, which drew tons of attention from those who form a significant portion of his base.

He then followed it up with a tweet revealing the logo for new US Space Force logo, one of his boldest measures and likely a key portion of what will be a significant legacy.

The logo is very stylish. However, the design is drawing comparisons to the emblem associated with >Star Trek’s Federation Star Fleet emblem.

President Trump unveiled the official emblem of the newly minted Space Force Friday, and observers quickly noted a strong resemblance to the symbol of an even more famous interstellar unit — Star Trek’s Star Fleet.“After consultation with our Great Military Leaders, designers, and others, I am pleased to present the new logo for the United States Space Force, the Sixth Branch of our Magnificent Military!,” Trump said in a tweet. The image smashed into Twitter like an asteroid, as critics immediately noted that the new logo’s center arrow and other features were a dead ringer for the one from Star Fleet.

One Trump-hating #Resister promptly responded with demands for royalties.

George Takei says the team behind “Star Trek” is “expecting some royalties” from the design of the Space Force logo unveiled by President Trump on Friday.Takei — who played Hikaru Sulu on “Star Trek” — was one of several social media users to point out distinct similarities between the Space Force logo and that of the Starfleet, the fictional organization on the TV series.

Classlessly, he followed it up with a dig at the First Lady.

However, there are a few factors working in the Trump administrations favor. First, the design does seem to be a derivative of the US Air Force Space Command design. The Space Command can be considered the proto-Space Force.

And it is clear both logos are ultimately the descendants of the NASA emblems.

Next, hard coreStar Trek fans will argue that as Star Fleet opened in 2161, the design is based on the 2020 Space Force logo.

Finally, Legal Insurrection readers may recall that the Language Creation Society once filed an amicus brief challenging Paramount’s dubious claim that Klingon language was copyrighted. This case was brought when a fan-film was poised to launch, and Klingons would be key characters.
Marc Randazza (a first amendment attorney) and Alex Shepard filed a legal document filled with Klingon words, its alphabet, and cultural references. Team Trump can bring them on, if needed.

A mek’ba is the Klingon ritual of submitting evidence in trial. If a mek’ba is what CBS wants, I predict a glorious victory for the Trump Legal Team…rather like the one in the Senate it will be getting very shortly.

Once again, Trump-haters rush to another Trump-hating judgement, devoid of facts, relevant background, or reason.
