Talk on Antifa Violence at U. British Columbia Cancelled Over Threat of Antifa Violence

“It’s just whenever we host a right winger, it turns into this huge volcano”

Andy Ngo, the Portland based journalist widely considered an authority on the far left faction known as Antifa, was invited to speak on the topic by a free speech group at the University of British Columbia. The event has since been cancelled.

It seems the school is worried about violence from Antifa. You couldn’t make this up.

Jennifer Saltman reports at the Vancouver Sun:

UBC event cancelled, debate continues about free expression on campus

The University of B.C. could face a lawsuit from a free speech club after cancelling a potentially controversial speaking event at the end of January, citing “safety and security.”…

“The speaker has every freedom of expression right to express his views. This group of students has every freedom of expression right to find a place to hold an event to let him express his views. It’s just the university doesn’t have an obligation to be that place,” said James Turk, director of Ryerson University’s Centre for Free Expression.

Andy Ngo, editor at large for the right-wing news site Post Millennial, was scheduled to deliver a talk called “Understanding Antifa (Anti-fascist) Violence,” at UBC’s Robson Square campus on Jan. 29…

Ron Holton, the university’s chief risk officer, said in an emailed statement that campus safety and security is the primary concern, and the school does risk assessments to evaluate the impact that event bookings could have on the campus community.

“The assessment in this case determined the safety and security of UBC students, faculty, staff and infrastructure was at risk if the event was allowed to proceed,” he said, noting the event was cancelled “in order to safeguard the safety and security of our community.”…

Some have accused the club of leaning far right in its views, but Isidorou said while roughly two-thirds of their speakers and events have been conservative or right-leaning — the club has hosted Jordan Peterson five times — they have booked people from across the political spectrum, including a number of UBC professors.

“It’s just whenever we host a right winger, it turns into this huge volcano,” he said.

Where to begin? First of all, Andy Ngo is not a right winger. Secondly, the reason things turn into a volcano, is because left wingers are allowed to go berserk whenever someone with a differing view is set to speak.

It is the university’s responsibility to “teach” these adult children that they must allow the free flow of ideas and debate, not throw a tantrum. If outside groups pose a threat, it is the responsibility of the university to protect its students and campus.

Schools must not be allowed to shrug off their responsibilities because they are too lazy to protect and promote free expression.

Ngo talked about this on Twitter:

People who threaten violence over speech should not be the ones to decide who is allowed to speak.

Fascists will be fascists. They don’t stop until defeated.

The courage of Andy Ngo is contrasted by the weakness and appeasement of UBC’s administrators. Yes, legal action should be promptly commenced against UBC.

The only way to deal with ANTIFA is by giving them a very strong dose of their own medicine. A bunch of ANTIFA members need to end up in traction. That would be the educational experience of their life.

Yet again we see it. In The Coming of the Third Reich (2003), historian Richard J. Evans explains how, in the early days of National Socialist Germany, Stormtroopers (Brownshirts) “organized campaigns against unwanted professors in the local newspapers [and] staged mass disruptions of their lectures.” To express dissent from Nazi positions became a matter of taking one’s life into one’s hands. The idea of people of opposing viewpoints airing their disagreements in a civil and mutually respectful manner was gone. One was a Nazi, or one was silent (and fearful).

Today’s fascists call themselves “anti-fascists.” Just like the Nazis, they are totalitarian: they are determined not to allow their opponents to murmur the slightest whisper of dissent. Forcibly suppressing the speech of someone with whom one disagrees is a quintessentially fascist act.

Administrators to knuckle under to groups link ANTIFA should be summarily dismissed from their positions.

It’s only a matter of time till PDJT hits the antifa crowd with federal power. They might want to move to iran, where they’ll be safe.

This particular Antifa crowd is at the U of BC — BC is British Columbia, and I recon that the U of BC is most likely in Canada. Trump has no authority in BC and no ability to come down on this group of antifa.

Notice that, where the infantile, goose-stepping, totalitarian, Dhimmi-crat/Leftist brownshirt thugs are concerned, one’s “minority” ethnic status and homosexual sexual orientation offer no protection, where one has the temerity to hold conservative/libertarian/non-Leftist views and opinions. Indeed, in such a case (as Mr. Ngo has experienced), the Dhimmis/Leftists view one as an ideological traitor who must be made an example of, to punish heretics.

Once again, the Dhimmis and Leftists demonstrate their allegiance to the most fanatical totalitarianism.

It’s called a Violence Veto.

The cure is law enforcement. Wherever it is tried, it works. When the violent thugs *know* they are going to be arrested, charged, jailed, and punished, all of the sudden the scene gets very peaceful. When they think they can get away with assault and battery, they go nuts.

The campus administration signaled that the thugs were going to get away with it. They’re idiots.

#OccupyAntifa

I fear for this country for it appears that so many have readily accepted so much insanity as fact. They accept that men can be pregnant and demand tampons be available in men’s restrooms, that Antifa is peaceful and freedom loving, that we must embrace more gun control because it is lawful people who are a threat to everyone’s safety, that Trump should be impeached for the crime of defending himself using protections used by every President before him, that catastrophic climate change is going to kill us all despite none of their predictions coming close to reality, that socialism is the best form of government despite it being responsible for killing over 100 million people in the last 100 years, etc.

One would normally ask how have we become so poorly educated, but these attitudes and beliefs transcend poor education because they border on the pathologically stupid. To believe and accept these ideas demands an absolute rejection of well documented and proven facts and ideas in favor of outright fantasy. It does not bode well for America.

Trump get off the dime. Declare antifa a worldwide terrorist organization. DOJ / FBI INFILTRATE AND PROSECUTE antifa and its financial backers.

Well, when braining the guy reporting what you’re actually doing doesn’t shut him up, threaten folks a bit less courageous into not hosting him.

That’s in the AntiFa handbook somewhere, I’m sure.

What is it with these Antifa going after gay “conservative” political speakers. (Hi, Milo!) They do seem to be projecting a bit much.

Hey guys, it’s OK to come out of the closet masks. We really won’t judge you for what tingles your tingly bits n Andy, there, is a snappy dresser. (Milo is a bit of a charmer, too, really.)

But do, maybe find a better way to manage your fascination. I’ve heard just asking if they’re interested works sometimes. Just sayin.
