Iran launches missile attacks on U.S. bases in Iraq

There are reports coming in that a Ukrainian plane crashed on take-off from Iran’s Imam Khomeini airport, which seems to be related to technical difficulties based on initial information available.

A Boeing 737 belonging to Ukraine International Airlines has crashed due to technical problems after take-off from Iran’s Imam Khomeini airport with 180 passengers and crew aboard, the semi-official Fars news agency tweeted on Wednesday.This came after Iran launched over a dozen ballistic missiles targeting at least two bases where US military and coalition forces’ are stationed in Iraq, the Pentagon said on Tuesday.

And while this report may also be unrelated, there were 2 earthquakes reported in southwest Iran around the time of the missile launches.

Two earthquakes measuring magnitudes 4.9 and 4.5 hit southewestern Iran Wednesday morning.The U.S. Geological Survey says the stronger quake hit at about 2:20 a.m., six miles southeast of the city of Borazjan.The second quake hit almost exactly one hour later about 10 miles southeast of the city.There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.Borazjan has a population of about 110,000. It is located near the Persian Gulf.
