College admin suspended after suggesting Iranian leader pick American targets ‘he would bomb’

A Massachusetts college administrator is on paid suspension over a social media post suggesting that Iran pick 52 American cultural sites it could attack.

“Ayatollah Khomenei should tweet a list of 52 sites of beloved American cultural heritage that he would bomb,” the post reportedly stated.

Among the possible American targets that Babson College Director of Sustainability Asheen Phansey reportedly listed were the Mall of America and the Kardashian family home, according to WBZ-TV.

Phansey now says the post was “sloppy humor,” not a threat.

“I regret my bad attempt at humor. As an American, born and raised, I was trying to juxtapose our ‘cultural sites’ with ancient Iranian churches and mosques. I am completely opposed to violence and would never advocate it by anyone. I am sorry that my sloppy humor was read as a threat. I condemn all acts of violence,” Phansey said, according to New England Cable News.

Phansey has been suspended with pay by Babson College while an investigation is underway.

“Babson College condemns any type of threatening words or actions condoning violence or hate. This particular post from a staff member on his personal Facebook page clearly does not represent the values and culture of Babson College. While we understand he has deleted the posts, we have immediately suspended him, with pay, pending the completion of our investigation. In addition, we are cooperating with local, state and federal authorities,” the college said in a statement provided to Campus Reform.

Now that’s funny stuff.

I wouldn’t have posted anything like this myself, but it’s obviously not intended to give aid or comfort to Iran.

No matter how big a douche he may be, a guy really should be able to post jokes, even bad ones, on his own Facebook page. Babson should save the tough stuff for people who deserves it. It’s not like they’re hard to find.

Hey, don’t mess with the Director of Sustainability. This is a very important role in the world of higher education.

The standard of “threatening words or actions condoning violence or hate” appears over broad and therefore unconstitutional.

I don’t know off hand if Babson is public or private but it’s possible he has grounds for a lawsuit here. He should talk to a lawyer (of which I am not one).

“Paid suspension”? Oh, you mean vacation for this cretin.

Has the facebook censor banned him/her? I would think that a bigger punishment than paid suspension from the school.

OK, Phansey, please provide your GPS coordinates for targeting consideration. What? You think only OTHERS should be targeted?
