LIVE: December Democratic Debate Hosted by PBS and Politico
Luckily we only have seven candidates on stage!
A handful of the large 2020 Democratic presidential primary field will face off tonight in Los Angeles, CA. It begins at 8:00 p.m. ET, co-hosted by PBS and Politico.
Only seven candidates will take the stage.
We have: Entrepreneur Andrew Yang, South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, philanthropist Tom Steyer, and former Vice President Joe Biden.
Moderators: Judy Woodruff, Amna Nawaz, and Yamiche Alcindor of PBS. Tim Alberta of Politico will also participate.
The debate will not have opening statements. The candidates have 75 seconds to answer a question, 45 seconds for rebuttals.
The Debate
OF COURSE impeachment comes up right away.
First question of Democratic debate tonight: "How can you convince the American people to support impeachment?”

.@AndrewYang admonishes Dems: “Stop being obsessed with impeachment and dig in and start solving the problems that got Donald Trump elected in the first place.”#DemDebate

The candidates were asked why a strong majority of Americans have not yet come to support the impeachment of President Trump, and what they can say or do differently in the weeks to come to change that. pic.twitter.com/Np8nJoqQvx

TRADE DEAL!
The candidates are being asked about the bipartisan trade agreement the House passed today.
Sen. Bernie Sanders says it's a "modest improvement" over what's currently in place. He notes that climate change is not included, and says he will not support it https://t.co/muUCzL8496 pic.twitter.com/3DfS1lANJf

CLIMATE CHANGE! The world is going to end.
Rejoining the Paris Agreement ain't enough.
The issue now is whether we save the planet for our children and grandchildren.
We need a Green New Deal. #DemDebate pic.twitter.com/UFtTkH2z2w

The science is clear: we need action now, and we can't do it alone. As president, I will take unprecedented action at home and abroad to tackle the climate crisis head on. #DemDebate pic.twitter.com/SyVhWMnAaE
— Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) December 20, 2019
We have to summon the energies of the entire country to deal with climate change.
I’ve seen politicians in Washington say the right things my entire life. But the impact means nothing unless something actually gets done. #DemDebate pic.twitter.com/SIiAH5C6gI

Buttigieg on Israel: Blames Trump for disappearance of US leadership. Criticizes Trump for welcoming White nationalism at home.
(But doesn't really discuss alternative to current US policy towards Israel / Middle East.)

Biden bashes Netanyahu and says his state cannot be sufficiently Jewish unless it surrenders to the Palestinians. Flashback to the Obama era there. This has always been a radical anti-Israel position, mainstreamed by the past administration.#DemocraticDebate

Biden: Trump is "no longer an honest broker" on Israel / Middle East. No solution other than a two-state solution.#DemDebate #DemocraticDebate

Can I borrow some snow googles from someone who isn’t watching this debate?
With zero intention to watch the debate, I turned to ESPN to watch Thursday Night Football only to find out there’s no game tonight!! What??
I did catch a few minutes of Martha McCallum’s good interview with AG Barr then turned the TV off to wrap more Christmas presents.
You can always cue up one of those videos compiling all the lefties crying on 2016 Election Night.
It never gets old.
2020 – Make Them Cry Again!
No game = a scheduled bye for fans – what’s left of ’em anyways.
Candidates? More like jackasses on a road trip. Not one of them is electable. Several of them are virtually unknown and, as well as I can determine, everyone of them is a socialist.
Bloomberg would have been better off running with these porch dogs, even if he is, roughly speaking, a little man with a lot of money.
My son is watching this for his government class. I am watching with him. It is Trump Derangement Syndrome layered with socialism, peppered with climate crisis quackery.
Don’t forget the gargantuan spending paid for by imaginary money.
Other than yang, steyer and buttgigger the others should recuse themselves from any Senate trial on impeachment. The first question was about it, any answer other than we need to see the evidence should disqualify them from voting.
That begs some interesting questions about jury selection … I can’t imagine a Dem would survive the same kind of jury selection the rest of us go through for a local trial … scrub the Dem’s twitter accounts, media clips and interviews … what a laugh riot that would be.
Um, Yang, Steyer, and Buttigieg are not Senators. What is your point?
I read it as though the rest are senators and should recuse…
That is how I meant it. The other three aren’t involved the senators might be.
Why do I have to pay for support of PBS? PBS is so biased for Democrats and against Republicans. Even as an Independent since Vietnam, it is so obvious to me how biased PBS News Hour is every day of the week. Brooks and Shields are the most opinionated loons who even rival Chuck Todd on Meet The Press Sunday mornings.
Indeed, the real question here is why radical PBS still exists? All funding for “public” tv should end, and they should be forced to pay taxes, like everybody else.
The Democratic Presidential Debate tonight on PBS “May be listed by some PBS stations as an episode of ‘Antiques Roadshow.'”

OK, LOL, TrumpWarRoom wins the internets today.
The Party of Hate has a debate… how cute.
The dems love to talk about the devastation due to coastal flooding from rising sea levels or overflowing rivers, yet I never hear one of them challenge the local governments who continue to approve projects in these vulnerable areas.
Reminds me of a High school assembly. More Recess! Teachers suck!!
A friend tells me he decided to go see the new Star Wars movie instead of watching the debate. Said he just wasn’t in the mood for that much fantasy.
Sanders’ calling Netanyahu an alleged “racist” is so contemptible. This is the most despicable and feckless type of slander, red meat for the Jew-hating, anti-Israel fanatics who are welcomed in the contemporary Dhimmi-crat tent. Not only is this a vile and false accusation, it is Abbas who is the racist, having claimed that Jews’ “filthy feet” should not desecrate Jerusalem.
The only thing stopping the Arab Muslims (so-called “Palestinians”) from successfully implementing an independent state is their own insatiable and perpetual jihadist bloodlust and hatred of Jews and Christians.
But, of course, the Dhimmi-crat candidates are all-too-happy to parrot the contrived and fallacious mythology of alleged Arab Muslim victimhood at the hands of those pesky Israeli Jews who have the temerity to resist their goose-stepping, genocidal aspirations.
Friday morning is the first I heard that was even a debate. Does anybody tune in to these things anymore?
