Nikki Haley and Kellyanne Conway Get Into Bizarre Twitter Fight Over Trump Tweet

Nikki Haley and Kellyanne Conway Get Into Bizarre Twitter Fight Over Trump Tweet

“This is so unnecessary”

Never a dull moment in Trumpland.

Friday morning, Trump tweeted:

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1157259424794324992

Trump told reporters later “he meant no harm with the social media post, saying ‘that was really not meant as a wise-guy tweet.'”

Trump and Cummings have spent the last week in a very public spat over whether Baltimore, which is in Cummings’ district is a dump (SPOILER: it is).

The Hill summarized:

Cummings in a statement on Friday confirmed the incident and said he scared the intruder away by yelling before they were able to enter the residence.

Trump has assailed Cummings over the last week, accusing the House Oversight and Reform Committee chairman of failing to address problems in Baltimore, suggesting he investigate what happened to federal funding for the city and calling him a racist without elaborating.

He has also levied a barrage of criticism at the city itself, calling it a “very dangerous & filthy place” where “no human being would want to live.” Trump chastised the city during a Thursday night rally in which he blamed Democratic leadership for its crime rate.

Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley replied to Trump’s tweet, eye roll emoji and all:

It’s unclear wether Haley was responding to Trump’s tweet as unnecessary, seeing as she’s a campaign surrogate or if she was responding to the fact that Rep. Cummings’ house burglarization was “so unnecessary” though the eye roll emoji seems to suggest the former.

Then Kellyanne Conway’s husband got involved. Despite his wife’s prominent White House job, George Conway remains a vocal Trump critic:

Prompting Kellyanne Conway to respond, throwing in an extra dig emphasizing the 2020 ticket would feature current VP Pence (the rumor mill has speculated Trump might dump Pence for Haley):

What is it with these fucking progs and their hubris? Always with the stupid fucking “right side of history” bullshit. Fuck you, you fucking arrogant punks, fuck you.

Hey, I laughed when I heard about it. And I’m not sorry, either.

Dump Pence for Haley? All that’ll get you is a yuuuge hahahahahahahahaha . . .

“Never a dull moment in Trumpland. . . ? ?

You mean “the United States of America” – our constitutional republic with the representative democracy?

Some of the comments here remind me of the existing divide from 2016 between the mindset who voted for Trump to “Make Our Republic Great Again” vs the fans who would like to “Make Trump Roman Consul for Life”

If we are to fight the culture of totalitarianism, PC culture and speech policing, we might start by ensuring the climate of group think and self censorship isn’t cultivated on this side either.

Way I see it, Trump’s tweets are beating the Left’s culture war at their game. Conversely, the Right’s outrage over Haley’s tweets is unnecessary.

Calling Haley a NeverTrumper over a tweet says to me that the Left doesn’t have a monopoly on group think and the outrage mob.

She’s done more for our Republic as a governor and UN ambassador than the professional commentators will give her credit for.

Barry in reply to Aucturian. | August 3, 2019 at 1:39 pm

OK, I’ll bite. What has Ms. Haley done for our republic and the state of SC?

She is a neverTrumper per her past, not as a result of a single twat.

Close The Fed in reply to Barry. | August 3, 2019 at 3:58 pm

Not merely Never-Trump; she’s a 1984 proponent. let’s put our American history down the memory hole for the Asian-Indian who has ZERO love for America’s history.

JLSpeidel in reply to Barry. | August 6, 2019 at 11:53 am

She did back down to the mob over the Confederate Battle flag.

Nikki Haley has always been a Never-Trumper. I’m not sure what President Trump was thinking when he tapped her for UN Ambassador. A peace offering? Never-Trumpers will never change.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to rdmdawg. | August 2, 2019 at 7:47 pm

I saw it as President Trump sidelining Haley away from national politics permanently.

The U.N. isn’t a favorite among us Republicans.

healthguyfsu in reply to rdmdawg. | August 2, 2019 at 7:48 pm

She was an absolute dynamo in the UN. I hope the next pick is as good, regardless of differences between her and Trump.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to healthguyfsu. | August 2, 2019 at 8:33 pm

Yes, she was very good going after the natural enemies of Asian India, which now happen to be enemies of the U.S. too.

    tom_swift in reply to rdmdawg. | August 2, 2019 at 7:49 pm

Probably, get her out of Washington.

Two centuries ago a President could do that with an appointment as ambassador to St Petersburg.

What need is there to gloat about it when you have your opponents at each other’s throats?

Trumps post was a kind of running up the score.

rdmdawg, Trump appointed Haley to save South Carolina of her being governor for two more years.

She has never been a strong republican.

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to Tsquared. | August 2, 2019 at 8:34 pm

Yes, she was starting to spend more time as SC govenor re-writing history instead of trying ot make history.

Colonel Travis | August 2, 2019 at 8:20 pm

Why was Trump’s tweet so unnecessary? It didn’t bother me. Then again, I wasn’t raised to be perpetually offended.

Actually, what bothers me is someone telling me I need to be upset about what Trump tweets. You know what I say to that? I say to go hell with that. The only people he pisses off are Democrats, idiots in the media, and NeverTrumpers. Sorry – to me that’s called “doing the job correctly.”

Never cared what Trump tweets, never will.

Close The Fed in reply to Colonel Travis. | August 2, 2019 at 8:57 pm

Wait one minute, Colonel. I DO CARE what President Trump tweets; I have been waiting since the first district judge slapped a nationwide injunction on his travel ban to see him tweet:

“The judge has made his decision, now let him enforce it!”

I think it is entirely fair to say Trump was being petty. I also remember all the nasty things said to him in regards to Cummings so I’m not in any mood to throw tomatoes. Haley, apparently, was. She has future presidential prospects in need of protecting by upholding her clean politicking brand. She tried to use her President as a stepping stone and was, relatively gently, called out on it.

I fail to see why this is complicated.

Close The Fed in reply to JBourque. | August 2, 2019 at 9:09 pm

“I think it is entirely fair to say Trump was being petty.”

It’s not PETTY to recognize and comment on a high crime area whose elected officials feel ZERO obligation to improve it. If I lived in the area, I’d be GRATEFUL that my decades-long chronic crime problem was being focused on. Crime means burglaries, robberies, assaults and murders.

THIS is why it’s great Trump isn’t a politician. He really wants to see America BETTER, he doesn’t just want to collect a paycheck and let the status quo waddle on. (Bad choice of word, but I can’t think of the better word.)

“I also remember all the nasty things said to him in regards to Cummings so I’m not in any mood to throw tomatoes. Haley, apparently, was. She has future presidential prospects in need of protecting by upholding her clean politicking brand.”

And in this statement, Haley wants to protect her “clean” brand?! Only clean to lefties and the LSM, but I repeat myself. So by claiming she’s in a position to judge us deplorables, she maintains her brand?! Okay, only in the universe that deplores me, and I don’t give one rat’s ass about them. The other side is full of sexual misconduct or sexual confusion at least, graft, violence (Antifa, etc.), climate change mental illness, etc.

Haley isn’t in her heart an American. She looks down her nose at us, yet India has more problems than can be counted! Puh-lease!

    tom_swift in reply to JBourque. | August 2, 2019 at 9:57 pm

I think it is entirely fair to say Trump was being petty.

This tweet performs the same set of functions as all his others. One of those functions is to make national news of something the press would otherwise prefer to ignore.

In recent days, the D’rats have been in very public denial that a Dem-run city like Cummings’ home turf is, despite vast federal taxpayer sums thrown at it, a rat-infested, crime-ridden shithole. But not even a US Representative swings enough weight to pretend it isn’t, particularly when it’s his own house which is burglarized. And DJT will remind us of that every now and then.

It’s not petty. It’s part of his job.

It looks petty because it looks personal. Fighting for your city for 40 years only for its civil services to degrade to this degree is an issue of job competence (or if you will, losing the fight). Burglary, however, can happen to basically anyone. It’s very personally invasive. If Trump didn’t mean it that way, he made an error in writing it in a way that would be widely seen that way… justified or not.

Making it personal is a mistake. Haley made a similar mistake by virtue signaling at Trump’s expense. I mean, am I to seriously believe his former UN ambassador could not make her view known privately?

Close The Fed in reply to JBourque. | August 2, 2019 at 11:32 pm

        AMAZING, isn’t it, that so many upper echelon politicians don’t have burglaries happen to them.. . . . —— – – – – – – Maybe we should be COPYING their sainted behavior. . . . so WE don’t get “personally” invaded. . . . . .

Okay, I’ll build a 10′ high solid WALL around my property, put in a guard house, man it 24 hours a day, and have armed security around my person 24/7. YEAH, that’s the ticket!

Geeze J Bourque, you don’t think it’s PERSONAL to all Cummings’ constituents that they’ve had family and friends murdered? If Cummings can’t stand the heat, he should LEAVE the kitchen. We’re talking about his damn job performance and as you noted, he’s either incompetent or something else.

Cummings is a grown-ass man. He can take it, or go home!

I asked myself, is it so hard for people to disassociate what they think Cummings deserves, and whether Trump is helping or hurting himself by saying this? Well, I have my answer. Yes, yes it is.

Trump has Ben Carson and Bill Barr trying to effect real, positive change for Baltimore. With local support, this may be possible… even if that support is not forthcoming from Cummings.

          https://www.baltimoresun.com/news/crime/bs-md-ci-bpd-federal-partnership-20190716-7cvfhgvm6zavtetlcigqtrz2xi-story.html

Close The Fed in reply to Close The Fed. | August 3, 2019 at 6:41 am

Has it occurred to you, Bourque, that Cummings should be made uncomfortable? Otherwise, how are the dems to learn? By being mollycoddled by the lsm?

If the dems are being made uncomfortable, that is a GOOD thing. If they’re having to deal with .001% of the constant criticism hurled at GOPers, that is a good thing.

It is a GOOD thing that dems are no longer immune from criticism, and that includes Cummings. Because as long as they are immune from criticism, NOTHING CHANGES.

This hurts Trump. Not in my universe. This helps America and this helps Trump. Now let’s see if Baltimore VOTERS want the problem acknowledged or if they prefer to let the rats procreate in peace.

Barry in reply to JBourque. | August 3, 2019 at 2:27 pm

JB speaks like the true prog.

I would never have guessed that criticizing Haley bashing her own party’s President because of an “unnecessary” tweet, using it for her future campaign for President, would make me come off as a “true prog”.

          Also, I’m not sorry.

Barry in reply to Barry. | August 3, 2019 at 7:49 pm

          You have a history.

Conan in reply to JBourque. | August 2, 2019 at 10:11 pm

What Mercy do you see from Cummings or the Democrats?

Maybe calling Trump a Russian traitor and Mentally Unbalanced eligible for the 25th Amendment is your kind of playing nice.

Barry in reply to Conan. | August 3, 2019 at 2:29 pm

Yes, it is the progs definition of “playing nice”.

You can tell the progs and the progs enablers by the way they write.

Colonel Travis in reply to JBourque. | August 2, 2019 at 10:54 pm

His tweet reads as petty only if you insert pettiness into the equation. I wasn’t in his head when he tweeted it, so I don’t know how he intended it to be taken. Is he rubbing it in? That’s not how I took it.

It can also be taken as:
    That sucks, period.
    or
That sucks and maybe you shouldn’t be so stupidly flippant about your Congressional duties and the realities of what’s actually happening in our country, including your hometown.

Speaking only for me – am I sorry his house was broken into? I would be if I thought it would teach him a lesson that I wish he did not have to learn. I’d have great sympathy and respect for him if this changed his outlook on things. Sometimes it takes hard lessons to actual learn from them. I am truly grateful he was not injured or killed.

But I reserve my sympathy otherwise because we’re talking about leftists. Self-scrutiny and intellectual honesty do not exist with them. If it did, they wouldn’t be leftists. I’m gonna guess he’s gonna be the same ineffectual jerk he’s always been in Congress.

Follows a special shout out to Tulsi Gabbard, who stole Howard Kaylan’s outfit, sans sweater vest. Hit it, Flo & Eddie! Nikki Hoi

Close The Fed | August 2, 2019 at 9:00 pm

Nikki Haley is more emotionally attached to her Indian ancestry than to American history.

As far as I’m concerned, she’s an anti-American covered with a fig leaf of GOPe.

No use for her and her sanctimonious lecturing of Americans born and raised here.

If she retired from public life today, it would be decades too late for me.

Close The Fed | August 2, 2019 at 9:10 pm

BTW, off topic, but I have to mention it – AOC’s chief of staff, the execrable Chakrabarti, has been fired!!

https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2019/08/new-aocs-top-staffer-resigning-radical-chief-of-staff-saikat-chakrabarti-out-following-spat-with-house-democrats/

notamemberofanyorganizedpolicital in reply to Close The Fed. | August 2, 2019 at 9:16 pm

Oh Chakrabarti, the Nazi celebrating fascist.
(Check out his photos wearing a t-shirt with the Asian Indian head of their Nazi party during WWII. The one that met personally with Hitler.)

With Democrats however the question is “Will he stay fired?”

They’re fond of bringing them back in other positions.

Close The Fed in reply to Close The Fed. | August 2, 2019 at 9:31 pm

Okay, I misstated it: He has “left” the office, not been fired.

    hahahahahHAHAHAHAHhahahaha

    Lololololo

Cortez doesn’t have the brains to have known to fire him. Pelosi was behind it. (She gave gidget and ultimatum, and probably bribed her in the process.)

mailman in reply to Close The Fed. | August 3, 2019 at 2:51 am

Dont feel to bad for the scum. Like all scum he will resurface somewhere else within the Democratic party. Its just what they do as Democrats.

Also, please, have a little respect. It’s “President Trump”. God bless.

Twitter is so stupid. What what can you do when the Democrats control 99% of the media…although I think the MSM is now sure they control the Democratic Party….
Watching that creep Lemon was really disturbing.

What the hell….I say get in the mud with wet t-shirts.

Can understand why Trump needs Twitter to get his voice heard.

Cannot understand why others think they must voice an opinion on everything, just because they can. In this case, less is more.

LA, San Fran, Seattle?, now Baltimore. He is awakening urban blacks from their stupor of voting Democrat. He is speaking to them directly, which sounds horrible to us. Do you forget how he led the renaissance in NYC? Times Square was a disgusting sleaze show before he entered the ring. His timing is impeccable. What remains? What (Democrat)city is next on his list?

Elijah Cummings is a career politician in Baltimore, who has managed to steer a loot of money toward that city, to no good effect. His wife is being investigated for fraud. His house gets burgled. Trump tweets about crime and rats in Baltimore, and only then does the report about the burglary surface.

What’s next? More missing documents? We have seen evidence disappeared, before. That would be political suicide for a Republican, but it is business as usual for a Democrat.

If any of these politicians cared one bit about actual human beings they would appreciate Trump calling as it is. But all they care about is appeasing the Media, Donors, and votes.

Poor people are just a tool to be used and are expendable!

Who cares what the damage is to America!

Haley was never all in, and now she’s all out.

BerettaTomcat | August 3, 2019 at 12:28 pm

Nikki is a natural-born citizen of India. Her Indian parents moved to the US in 1969, where Nikki was born in 1972, three years later. A permanent resident may not apply for citizenship until after residing in tye US for five consecutive years; thus, Nikki’s father was a citizen of India at her birth, which makes her a natural-born citizen of India under natural law and our Constitution. Like Obama, a natural-born citizen of British East Africa per natural law and our Constitution, she is not eligible to hold the Presidency or Vice Presidency.

Trump is polling significantly behind the likely Democrat nominee–Joe Biden. His dopey tweets don’t help.

Anyone who thinks Trump’s “Too bad!” was sarcastic hasn’t read many Trump tweets. He often punctuates his tweets with a simple statement of feeling with an exclamation point and these statements are ALWAYS sincere. Haley jumped to a stupid and mean spirited conclusion, as many people often do about Trump.
