Iran Will Never Build Nukes Because Islam Forbids Them, Says Foreign Minister

Iran will never build nuclear weapons because Islam forbids such a move, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said Tuesday. “It is us who, because of our religious views, will never pursue a nuclear weapon,” Zarif remarked.

The comments come as Iran speeds up its enrichment of uranium, bringing the Islamic Republic closer to building a nuclear bomb.

The Iranian foreign minister’s statement is an outright lie. Last April, Israeli Intelligence service Mossad released a trove of classified Iranian documents detailing Tehran’s nuclear-weapons program, which had been running despite the 2015 deal. The seized documents revealed the details of the hidden nuclear testing facilities and warhead designs, among other things.

London-based The Guardian reported Iranian Foreign Minister’s comments:

Iran will never pursue a nuclear weapon, its foreign minister has claimed, saying Islam prevented the country from doing so.Iran has previously said it is ideologically opposed to acquiring nuclear weapons and seeks nuclear power only for civilian purposes. (…)Zarif pointed (…) to recent comments by Trump that he had called off a military strike on Iran because it would have killed 150 people.“You were really worried about 150 people? How many people have you killed with a nuclear weapon? How many generations have you wiped out with these weapons?” Zarif said on Tuesday.“It is us who, because of our religious views, will never pursue a nuclear weapon.”

Zarif, who personally negotiated the nuclear deal with then-Secretary of State John Kerry, was reacting to the new round of U.S. sanctions, this time targeting the Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and his circle of cronies. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin asserted the administration’s resolve to “go after the supreme leader’s office and lock up literally billions more in assets.”

The Iranian regime responded to the recent U.S. measures with the usual display of hate and fanaticism. The country’s lawmakers chanted “Death to America” during the parliament session. “America is the real terrorist in the world,” Iranian parliament’s deputy speaker declared.

Despite the irony in Foreign Minister Zarif’s statement, his remarks are part of a well-orchestrated disinformation campaign against the West. The concept of Iran refraining from having the nuke because of some Islamic doctrine is a very potent one for many gullible Western Liberals. In 2015, President Barack Obama fell for it hook, line, and sinker when Iranian negotiators assured that Tehran had no ambition of going nuclear because their supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei had issued a fatwa, or a religious edict, against such a move.

“Since Iran’s Supreme Leader has issued a fatwa against the development of nuclear weapons, this framework allows Iran to verify that its program is, in fact, peaceful,” President Obama assured everyone before the signing of the 2015 nuclear deal.

Instead of facing up to the hard evidence that Iran has been deceiving the world into believing it had no nuclear ambitions, many in the mainstream media and Liberal establishment are willing to take Iranian pronouncements at face value. The fact is that deception is a central tenet of Islamic jihad. Those engaged in this kind of warfare are religiously sanctioned to engage in ‘taqiyya,’ as the Islamic doctrine of deception is known, to lull the non-believers into complacency and mislead the enemy in the battlefield.

While Europe and the rest of the civilized world have been seeking some diplomatic arrangement with Mullahs in Iran, they are running their seventh-century jihad playbook.
