Tucker Carlson Takes on Media Matters President

Media Matters for America (MMfA) may come to regret their unprovoked attack on Tucker Carlson. He is not taking their harassment quietly. Quite the opposite, in fact.

It turns out MMfA President Angelo Carusone has written some controversial words of his own, and if Tucker’s jokes with a shock jock are fair game, so are Carusone’s words.

We covered this in 2014: Media Matters honcho behind #StopRush effort accused of offensive writings.

Carusone played a key role in the campaign against Rush Limbaugh: Media Matters astroturfed the Limbaugh secondary boycott

Peter Hasson of the Daily Caller has now shined a spotlight on Carusone’s past writings:

Media Matters President Wrote Blog Posts About ‘Japs,’ ‘Jewry’ and ‘Trannies’Media Matters President Angelo Carusone is currently leading a boycott campaign against Fox News host Tucker Carlson, a co-founder of The Daily Caller News Foundation, in an attempt to get him fired.Carusone and Media Matters, which openly pine for the destruction of Fox News, have justified the left-wing boycott campaign by pointing to a number of statements that Carlson made on a radio shock jock show between 2006 and 2011.But Carusone has his own track record of inflammatory statements. Carusone’s now-defunct blog included degrading references to “trannies,” “jewry” and Bangladeshis, records maintained by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine show.Carusone posted a lengthy diatribe in November 2005 about a Bangladeshi man who was robbed by “a gang of transvestites,” as Carusone described it. Carusone was offended that the gang was described as “attractive” in an article.“Did you notice the word attractive? What the fuck is that doing in there? Is the write[r] a tranny lover too? Or, perhaps he’s trying to justify how these trannies tricked this Bangladeshi in the first place?

Tucker has addressed this and the liberal media’s complacency on his show. The text of his commentary has been posted at FOX News. In this segment he went after MSNBC for having Angelo Carusone on the air and not asking him about his past writings:

Tucker Carlson: Media Matters’ president is an enthusiastic bigot – and MSNBC’s Chris Hayes ignored itChris Hayes is an anchor on MSNBC. His political views aren’t very interesting. Cringing hipster sensitivity burnished with low-grade academic buzzwords … pretty banal stuff. But Hayes always seemed like a decent guy, personally. He didn’t seem like a hater. It was hard to imagine him promoting open racism or anti-Semitism — or at least, it was hard to imagine until the other night. That’s when Hayes invited a man called Angelo Carusone on to his show. Carusone runs Media Matters. Almost every day, he issues outrage press releases accusing other people of bigotry. And yet, because everything is irony, Carusone is himself an enthusiastic bigot. We know this for sure because he has written about it extensively. It turns out that for years, Carusone maintained a racist blog. One post entitled “Tranny Paradise” addressed a crime story from Thailand. A Bangladeshi man had been robbed and assaulted by a group of male prostitutes dressed as women. Carusone objected to the idea that this was an actual story and ridiculed South Asians as inherently ugly and poor. He wrote the following: “Is the writer a tranny lover, too? Or perhaps he’s just trying to justify how these trannies tricked this Bangladeshi in the first place. Look, man, we don’t need to know whether or not they were attractive. The f-ing guy was Bangladeshi. What the hell was he doing with $7,300 worth of stuff? The guy is Bangladeshi.”

Here’s the clip:

In another monologue, Tucker went after Media Matters for violating its mission as a non-profit organization.

From FOX News:

Tucker Carlson: We’re becoming an authoritarian society – and the group in charge is coming after Fox NewsThis is what an authoritarian society looks like. It’s a place where the group in charge will tolerate no criticism at all. That’s what we’re becoming. It was only a matter of time before they came for Fox News. Of the top dozen news networks in the United States, only Fox has an alternative view. The other channels speak with one voice. They are united on every issue, every time. They’re in almost perfect sync with the priorities of the Democratic Party…Even worse, you’re subsidizing it, without knowing it. Both the SPLC and Media Matters are, amazingly, tax-exempt organizations. In its original tax application to the IRS, Media Matters claimed that the American news media were dominated by a pro-Christian bias and that they were needed to balance it. Despite the obvious absurdity of this claim, the group received non-profit status. It has been violating the terms of that status ever since.During the Obama administration, Media Matters held weekly strategy discussions with the White House about how to hurt its political enemies. Media Matters kept an “enemies list” of Republicans to destroy, including Steve King of Iowa. This is a violation of federal tax law. Tax-exempt non-profits can’t function as an arm of a political party. Media Matters clearly does.

Legal or not, it certainly doesn’t seem ethical for a non-profit to be organizing boycotts against media outlets over politics.
