CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Frets Over Trump Enemy Comment: “We love the American people”

Trump recently took a dig at the media on Twitter, specifically NBC News and CNN, following the North Korea Summit in Singapore. Who can blame him? We all know exactly what the coverage would have been like if Obama had attempted to broker peace on the Korean peninsula.

Here’s Trump’s tweet:

CNN’s Wolf Blitzer was upset about this and even mentioned it on the air. Matt Vespa reports at Townhall:

CNN On Trump Trashing Them: ‘We’re Not The Enemy Of The American People. We Love The American People.’CNN did not take kindly to the words that President Trump used to describe them. After his historic summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un, Trump lashed out at the news media, saying fake news is the “biggest enemy” to the country. The president specifically called out CNN and NBC…Well, journalists are foot soldiers of the elite. They don’t think they’re ever wrong. And they get riffled like no other when they’re called fake or an enemy of the people. After years of Republicans more or less tolerating and accepting the bias in the media, we have a guy in the Oval who fights back.If the media slaps Trump, he delivers an upper cut. I’m okay with this, especially since the media has caught Trump Derangement Syndrome. Everyone knows they want this denuclearization summit to collapse in the hopes of booting him in 2020. Folks, this is a network that couldn’t accurately report on how Trump fed koi fish with the Japanese prime minister.

David Rutz of the Washington Free Beacon has the details on what Blitzer said:

CNN analyst David Gregory attacked Trump for being unoriginal, saying all politicians don’t like the press.”Everybody’s always criticizing us and not happy with our coverage, whether it was President Clinton or President Bush or President—they’re all criticized,” Blitzer said.Blitzer went on to say a lot of Trump’s supporters believed the charge, which was “a really, really awful situation.””We are not the enemy of the American people. We love the American people,” he said.

Here’s the video:

Maybe it’s just me, but when I hear Wolf Blitzer declare his love for the American people, all I can think of is this classic scene from Mel Brooks in History of the World Part I:

If CNN loves the American people, they sure have a funny way of showing it.
