ABC Axes Roseanne’s Hit Show After Her Tweets Disparaging Obama Alum, Valerie Jarrett

Tuesday, ABC announced it was cancelling Roseanne Barr’s hit TV show after the actress made less than kind remarks about former Obama advisor, Valerie Jarrett.

Barr tweeted, “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.” After intense backlash, Barr clarified, saying she was joking.

According to the Washington Times, Barr deleted the tweet:

Her tweet referred to Ms. Jarrett, who is black, as a product of the Muslim Brotherhood and “Planet of the Apes.” The tweet appears to have been deleted.Ms. Jarrett served as senior adviser to former President Barack Obama.Comic Wanda Sykes, who was a consulting producer for the show, announced that she would not return to work on the program. The show is on hiatus for the summer after wrapping up the season last week.

Barr apologized for her tweet and announced she was leaving Twitter.

Roseanna has a long history of off-color and somewhat offensive stunts.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” said ABC entertainment president.

The reboot of Roseanne raked in killer numbers, irking critics who were less than thrilled that a pro-Trump, middle-American show could do so well without their blessing.
