Former President George H.W. Bush in Intensive Care With Blood Infection

Former President George H.W. Bush is in intensive care with a blood infection. He buried his beloved wife Barbara on Saturday after 73 years of marriage. From CNN:

“President Bush was admitted to the Houston Methodist Hospital yesterday morning after contracting an infection that spread to his blood. He is responding to treatments and appears to be recovering. We will issue additional updates as events warrant,” spokesman Jim McGrath said in a statement.Bush was admitted to the hospital on Sunday morning, he was suffering from an infection that led to sepsis, which can be life-threatening, according to a source close to the former President. He was in critical condition, the source said.

The source told CNN that “Bush’s blood pressure kept dropping and a couple of times there was serious concern about whether he was going to come through, but that he had been stabilized.”

Bush stayed by Barbara’s side and held her hand all day when she passed away.

Last April, Bush stayed in a hospital for two weeks due to pneumonia. In early 2017, he was in the hospital for pneumonia as well for 16 days and needed a ventilator in the ICU.

Bush served as a congressman, CIA director, and vice president under President Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1989. He served as president from 1989 to 1993.
