Brown University Suspends Men’s Swim Team Over Alleged Hazing

It’s amazing that hazing still goes on despite all the warnings. It never ends well.

The Providence Journal reports:

Brown University suspends men’s swim team after confirming hazing allegationsBrown University has announced that it has found its men’s swimming and diving team responsible for incidents of hazing and other conduct code violations.As a result, the university said in a statement, it is suspending the team as a student organization through May 27. The suspension prohibits any team activity.The team will be under deferred suspension through Dec. 21, the final day of the 2018 fall academic semester. During that period, the team will be able to hold practices but will not be allowed to represent the university in competition.The team will remain on probation through the spring 2019 semester, during which time it will be able to resume competition while under scrutiny from the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards.While the university said it could not comment on discipline of specific students, “the university wants to make it clear unequivocally that in addition to sanctions imposed upon the team, in its capacity as a student organization, individual students found responsible for code violations are subject to sanctions as well.”
