Prince Harry, 33, and American actress Meghan Markle, 36, are engaged! Harry is fifth in line for the throne. The wedding will take place in the spring. From The London Times:
A statement from Harry’s father, Prince Charles, read: “His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms Meghan Markle.
“The wedding will take place in spring 2018. Further details about the wedding day will be announced in due course.
“His Royal Highness and Ms Markle became engaged in London earlier this month. Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family. Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms Markle’s parents.”
The statement added that the couple will live in Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace, Harry’s home where Ms Markle, 36, has been a frequent visitor in recent months.
News of their relationship broke last autumn, when they had already been going out for several months.
Ms Markle, who has an African-American mother and a white father, is a divorcée who was brought up a Catholic.
A new law in 2015 revoked the old rules about marrying a Roman Catholic. Before that, Harry would have had to give up his right to the throne.

Or, more likely, she’d have given up her Catholicism, which I imagine would not present her with any difficulty.
Watching the British press twist themselves into knots opining about whether it’s appropriate for Harry to marry an….actress has been entertaining. After all, they know they can’t complain that she’s a little too dusky for their sensibilities.
