On CNN this morning, Daily Beast editor-in-chief and CNN political analyst John Avlon painted a very dark picture of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and his potential use of data provided to the federal government by “Dreamers.” Said Avlon:
“They are facing deportation after they gave their information and their addresses to the federal government. And all of a sudden now, Jeff Sessions . . . is in a position to weaponize that data, and go after these Dreamers, in a way that could be incredibly ugly in six months and is sinister.”
JOHN AVLON: Let’s not forget the people. Because we’re talking about 800,000 Americans [sic] who have never known another country, as you pointed out, and they are facing deportation after they gave their information and their addresses to the federal government. And all of a sudden now, Jeff Sessions, who was trotted out yesterday, who this has been a long-standing hobby horse of his, is in a position to weaponize that data, and go after these Dreamers, in a way that could be incredibly ugly in six months and is sinister.”
Note: If the 800,000 “Dreamers” and millions of other illegal immigrants were likely to vote Republican in overwhelming numbers, would Avlon and the rest of the MSM be condemning as “sinister” efforts to deport them?
Note segundo: Leave it to a CNN analyst like Avlon to employ the trendy term “weaponize” to describe Sessions’ potential use of data. We’d be tempted to say, “weaponize this, Avlon,” but are much too refined to do so. 😉
