On today’s Morning Joe, Mika Brzezinski and Mike Barnicle fretted over the personal impact the investigations surrounding the Trump administration are having on aides to the president. Each wondered, “what do you tell your children?”
But Joe Scarborough, putting things in mercenary terms, warned aides that they must cooperate with the feds out of financial self-interest:
“Not only what do you tell your children. . . . You have to cooperate, actually, with federal authorities if you ever want to have any hope of making another dime and making a living the rest of your life.”
Was Joe offering his advice out of altruistic concern for the future of the Trump aides, or was he acting more like a prosecutor trying to squeeze potential witnesses to help make a case against the president?
MIKE BARNICLE: What do you tell your children?MIKA BRZEZINSKI: If you do not do the right thing, what do you tell your children?JOE SCARBOROUGH: Not only what do you tell your children? What do you tell your next potential employer when you go to be employed after all of this implodes? Do you go say, you know what, I got convicted of a felony? But I was pardoned by the president in a sleazy back-and-forth.No, that’s, you don’t march on from that. That’s the end. So you have to cooperate, actually, with federal authorities, if you ever want to have any hope of making another dime and making a living the rest of your life.”
