Does Joe Scarborough of MSNBC watch rival CNN?
The question arises because this morning, one wonders whether Joe had tuned into the CNN segment we blogged about yesterday. A Reliable Sources panel had floated a variety of scenarios, from a 25th Amendment process to a “soft coup,” by which President Trump would be forced from office.
Said Scarborough on today’s Morning Joe: “this weekend, there seemed to be a turn where a lot of people . . . have started to talk about impeachment and have started to talk about okay, maybe he’s going to resign now, and have started to talk about like that Donald Trump is going to leave town.”
But Scarborough wasn’t buying: “he’s not going anywhere, Mark [Halperin], is he?” Scarborough ended the discussion by repeating “he’s not going anywhere,” but then added this little zinger, “until Bob Mueller says he’s going somewhere.”
Note: Mark Halperin mentioned that he recently spent time in Hollywood, and that people there “all just want to know: when’s he leaving? It’s not if. They’re all just like: what’s the date when he’s out of office?” Joshed Joe: “you went to the heart of America.”
JOE SCARBOROUGH: This weekend, there seemed to be a turn where a lot of people who are negative have started to talk about impeachment and have started to talk about okay, maybe he’s going to resign now, and have started to talk about like that Donald Trump is going to leave town. And that things are different now than they’ve ever been before.I’m just as negative on his performance. In fact, more negative. Charlottesville obviously was one of the most just unbelievably heartbreaking things for anybody that loves America that we’ve ever seen come out of the White House. He’s not going anywhere, Mark, is he? I mean, there’re no: where is this coming from?. . .MARK HALPERIN: I spent three days in Hollywood, talking to Hollywood people. They all just want to know when he’s leaving. It’s not if. They’re all just like: what’s the date when he’s out of office?JOE: You went to the heart of America.HALPERIN: I wanted to get, I put my finger on the pulse of an important segment.JOE: So you bring that up only to say, talk about?HALPERIN: Well, they’re kind of the extreme case, 3,000 miles away. They simply want to know when he’s leaving.JOE: He’s not going anywhere. Until Bob Mueller says he’s going somewhere.
