Doctors at MedStar Washington Hospital Center issued a statement Wednesday saying Rep. Steve Scalise has improved from critical to ‘fair’ condition.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise’s condition has been upgraded from “serious” to “fair,” his doctors said Wednesday.“Congressman Steve Scalise continues to make good progress,” his doctors at MedStar Washington Hospital Center said in a statement. “He is now listed in fair condition and is beginning an extended period of healing and rehabilitation.”It’s another sign that the Louisiana Republican is making progress in recovering from last week’s near-fatal gunshot wound.
