A few hundred people showed up outside Ivanka Trump’s Washington DC home for the “Queer Dance Party for Climate Justice” hosted by WERK for Peace.
Hundreds of people protested in front of Ivanka Trump’s Washington D.C. home on Saturday for “climate justice.”LGBTQ activists hosted a “dance party” protest to “send the clear message that our climate and our communities matter,” a detailed Facebook event said.
Fox News continues:
A crowd of protesters took to the streets with signs to protest President Donald Trump’s administration’s stance on climate change, the Daily Mail reported.“The entire Trump Administration has shown a blatant disregard for our planet and its inhabitants,” the event page read. “Also, in case you hadn’t heard, Trump revoked protections for LGBTQ government employees and removed LGBTQ questions from the census.”
According to WUSA9, the protesters are also concerned about the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the United States Supreme Court.
“His policies have in general worked to desecrate the environment movement,” Firas Nasr said.. . . . Protesters were also concerned about the possible confirmation of Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch and how he may vote on environmental and LGBT issues. We’re out here protesting the administration and the choices they are making,” Nasr explained. “Obviously, they chose him. Obviously, the Republican party stopped other candidates in the past. So, we’re here to protest that.”. . . . “The Republican party at large and specifically the administration should know that the queer community and the queer and trans community are watching,” Nasr said.
Watch:
Ivanka’s neighbors were not amused.
While I still don’t understand why the left is so happy to be relegated to subgroups and isolated demographic categories, I’d rather see this peaceful, fun, and over-the-top exuberance than the violence and rioting we saw immediately after President Trump’s inauguration.
That said, some are wondering what the gyrating protesters hope to accomplish.
