Source: Huma/Weiner Split Was “More for Optics for Hillary Campaign”

Long-time Hillary Clinton aide, Huma Abedin, is reportedly ‘working hard’ on her marriage with disgraced Congressman, Anthony Weiner.

Weiner has been busted repeatedly over the years for sexting with young girls. After “completing outpatient therapy for sex addiction last fall, Weiner has been continuing treatment in New York City” where the couple lives.

According to a source close to the Clinton camp, the latest Abedin/Weiner split was “more for optics for the campaign and [under] pressure from Hillary’s camp.” Weiner’s extra-curricular activities surfaced yet again last August, during the home-stretch of Hillary’s presidential campaign.

The New York Post reports:

After years of public humiliation by her sext-a-holic husband, Anthony Weiner, 40-year-old Abedin finally separated from the former congressman in August, one day after The Post reported that he had sent yet another explicit photo to a woman — this one showing his toddler son asleep beside him.But sources tell The Post that Hillary Clinton’s righthand woman is now giving the marriage another try.“Huma has been working hard on her relationship with Anthony,” said a source close to the Abedin family. “He has been spending 80 to 90 percent of his time at the [Irving Place apartment] they share . . . If there is a disagreement, he goes to his mother’s apartment in Brooklyn.“Both [his and her] families are hoping they will reconcile.”Another source, who worked closely with Bill and Hillary Clinton for several years, corroborates this, saying the breakup was “more for optics for the campaign and [under] pressure from Hillary’s camp.”

Weiner’s penchant for sexting youngsters left in the couple’s life uncomfortable, including the parents of their son’s classmates. The Weiner’s entered an agreement with the school that Anthony would not pick up or drop off their son.

Despite all of this, the family friend said, the couple is still in love. They blame “the pressures of the campaign and presidential race . . . and him drifting off into obscurity” for Weiner’s most recent relapse, the friend added. The friend said that since completing outpatient therapy for sex addiction last fall, Weiner has been continuing treatment in New York City.“A lot of [their] friends believe this is an illness, that he is sick,” said the friend. But “Huma takes it into consideration that there’s been no affair, or physical contact that anybody is aware of. He never met [the women].”

As for Huma, friends and associates describe her as loving the celebrity life, and willing to do whatever’s required to maintain it.

If one thing’s certain, it’s that Abedin — much like her mentor, Clinton — is resilient.“Oh, my gosh, this is not a person who feels sorry for herself,” the former aide said.“In the same ways Huma brought Anthony back for the [2013] mayoral race, she’s willing to emerge and see how the spotlight is going to treat her,” the friend said.“She is favorably received everywhere. She has done a lot of favors for a lot of people over the years. She was the gatekeeper, and she opened that gate a lot more than she closed it.”

While it’s easy to joke about their circumstance a few things are clear: Anthony is quite sick, and I mean that in the most literal terms. That he’s finally taking steps to get help is a positive. And it makes the internet a tad bit safer for young girls everywhere. Lastly, they have a child together. It’s always tragic when a family falls apart. That they’re reportedly seeking help and working it out ought to be lauded rather than mocked.
