CNN anchor Chris Cuomo just took “tone deaf” to a new dimension during a SiriusXM Radio interview Thursday.
“The only thing that’s bothersome about it, is that I see being called ‘fake news’ as the equivalent of the n-word for journalists, the equivalent of calling an Italian any of the ugly words that people have for that ethnicity. That’s what fake news is to a journalist,” said Chris Cuomo on SiriusXM POTUS (Ch. 124) Thursday.
“It is an ugly insult and you better be right if you’re going to charge a journalist with lying on purpose and the president was not right here and he has not been right in the past.”
Let’s not forget that the “fake news” label was created as a blame shifting mechanism to explain away Hillary’s embarassing electoral loss to Trump. Little did the leftist know how badly it would backfire.
Being publicly chastised for peddling lies and misinformation is not remotely in the same universe as being the recipient of a racial slur. But far be it from the press to egnage in introspection or even consider there’s some validity to the “fake news” complaints.
Establishment media isn’t providing rightly critical reporting, they’ve outright attacked and succumbed to confirmation bias. Until they can find the equalibrium where they’re a check on power as opposed to an ideological attack machine, they deserve every bit of flack they’re getting.
Just how bad is the fake new epidemic? T. Becket Adams at the Washington Examiner is keeping a list that begins with Trump’s innauguration. It’s depressingly long.
That was fast.
