Does it get more craven than Cory Booker securing his place in history by becoming the first Senator ever to testify against a fellow Senator during confirmation hearing?
It should happen on Wednesday.
Are there not enough people already calling Sessions names that Booker has to add his voice?
Democratic Sen. Cory Booker is set to testify against Republican Sen. Jeff Sessions Wednesday in an unprecedented move during his attorney general confirmation. This would be the first time in Senate history that a sitting senator will testify against another sitting senator for a Cabinet post during a confirmation.”I do not take lightly the decision to testify against a Senate colleague,” Booker said. “But the immense powers of the attorney general combined with the deeply troubling views of this nominee is a call to conscience.”
That makes this flashback pretty awkward. Last February, at a ceremony to recognize the 1965 Voting Rights Marches Foot Soldiers, Booker talked about how proud he was to work with Sessions on the civil rights award.“I am humbled to be able to participate here and pay tribute to some of the extraordinary Americans whose footsteps paved the way for me and my generation,” Booker said at the time. “I feel blessed and honored to have partnered with Senator Sessions in being the Senate sponsors of this important award.”
I guess this means #Booker2020
