We have more purpose than ever

The Second Coming by William Butler Yeats starts with words (highlighted) I think of very often:

Turning and turning in the widening gyreThe falcon cannot hear the falconer;Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhereThe ceremony of innocence is drowned; The best lack all conviction, while the worstAre full of passionate intensity.

I recently highlighted those words, “the center cannot hold,” to a friend when describing some of the insane rantings I’ve seen on Facebook against Trump and about the election result. Liberals have lost it.

I also thought of those words when I read a post today by The Human Truth Howitzer, Kurt Schlichter, Sorry, But Our Fight Against Liberal Fascism Has Only Just Begun:

I wish I could tell you that, having dodged the naggy bullet that was Felonia Milhous von Pantsuit, we can now spend the next four years being left alone. But that’s not in the cards. Liberals won’t – because they can’t – pause to reflect on how they should stop being such insufferable jerks and live with us normals in peace and mutual respect. Instead, they are doubling down on their gambit for unrestrained power over every aspect of our lives, fueled by a hatred for Donald Trump that is, in reality, a hatred for us.

Third simultaneous thought: The life of this website has been in opposition. The first post was three weeks before the 2008 election. I’ve wondered what purpose we would have when we no longer were an opposition website. That’s not to say we won’t oppose some things Trump “might” do, but we’re not an opposition website the way we were before.

I thought that would mean we’d be lacking in purpose. But having seen the reaction to the election, the attempt to steal the election by flipping the Electoral College, the gross media-driven hoaxes to create false racial and antisemitic anti-Trump narratives, the absurd media dishonesty on overdrive, the lawlessness virtue-signaling of the sanctuary city and campus movement, and the unraveling of the center of the Democratic Party and the rise of anti-Israel far leftists within it (FFS, they’re actually considering Keith Ellison for DNC Chair), I think we have more purpose than ever.

The center is not holding, and things could fall apart.

The rest of The Second Coming:

Surely some revelation is at hand;Surely the Second Coming is at hand. The Second Coming! Hardly are those words outWhen a vast image out of Spiritus MundiTroubles my sight: a waste of desert sand;A shape with lion body and the head of a man,A gaze blank and pitiless as the sun,Is moving its slow thighs, while all about itWind shadows of the indignant desert birds. The darkness drops again but now I knowThat twenty centuries of stony sleepWere vexed to nightmare by a rocking cradle,And what rough beast, its hour come round at last,Slouches towards Bethlehem to be born?
