Podesta Emails: Hillary Camp Feared GOP Candidates…Except Trump

In the new batch of Podesta emails, opinion writer Bren Budowsky told John Podesta that Hillary needed to change her ways because the GOP candidates could easily beat her…except for Donald Trump:

Budowsky insisted Hillary needed to stop attacking her opponent Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), “especially when she says things that are untrue, which candidly she often does.” Budowsky said he has the credibility to persuade Bernie supporters to switch sides to Hillary, but it would only work if she stops lying about Bernie.

He offers a few solutions for Hillary:

In another chain, Budowsky suggested to Podesta the campaign find a member of the clergy to call on Trump to apologize to Hillary after he called her bathroom break “disgusting” during a Democrat debate.

In the first batch of emails, the Clinton campaign “discussed ways to elevate Donald Trump and other ‘extreme’ Republican candidates to make the party’s eventual nominee ‘unpalatable.'” From The Daily Mail:

‘This memo is intended to outline the strategy and goals a potential Hillary Clinton presidential campaign would have regarding the 2016 Republican presidential field,’ the email that was sent to the Democratic National Committee on April 7, 2015, began.’Our hope is that the goal of a potential HRC campaign and the DNC would be one-in-the-same: to make whomever the Republicans nominate unpalatable to a majority of the electorate.’

They then picked three candidates to concentrate on: Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Ben Carson. The campaign called them Pied Piper Candidates:

‘We don’t want to marginalize the more extreme candidates, but make them more “Pied Piper” candidates who actually represent the mainstream of the Republican Party,’ the email read.’We need to be elevating the Pied Piper candidates so that they are leaders of the pack and tell the press to them seriously.’
