Adel Kermiche, one of the terrorists that slit the throat of Father Jacques Hamel in a small town in northern France, recorded his plans to attack a church on the Telegram app:
“You take a knife, you go to a church, you make a carnage,” he said. “You slice two or three heads and it’s good. It’s over.”
Another thing. A “spiritual guide” further radicalized Kermiche in prison in 2015.
The government actually had Kermiche in prison for awhile in 2015 after he tried to travel to Syria. But prison only made him worse because of this “spiritual leader” he met:
“In prison with my sheikh,” Kermiche says. “He gave me ideas.”
He also said he shared the lessons with “other brothers” and even boasted that he shared a cell with the guide. He did not name the man, though.
Kermiche also encouraged his jihadist brothers to share any video or images released from the attack:
“I warn you in advance, three four minutes and when the thing comes, it will share the line.” He then referred to “a picture or video” and promises that his listeners “will be rewarded” for their shares.
In another message, Kermiche admitted he planned this attack to prove his commitment to jihad when others made fun of him for his supposed “commitment to the couch.”
The government released him on house arrest after ten months in prison. He wore an ankle bracelet, but they turned it off in the morning. Kermiche also had to report to the police once a week and hand over his ID and passport.
A video surfaced of the teenagers pledging allegiance to ISIS:
Kermiche and his partner Abdel Malik executed Father Hamel in his church on July 26. They made him kneel at the altar where they slit his throat. The police shot both males as they exited the church. A nun described the murder:
A nun who was in the church during Tuesday’s attack said the 86-year-old priest was forced to the ground before his throat was slit.“They forced him to his knees. He wanted to defend himself. And that’s when the tragedy happened,” said the nun, identified as Sister Danielle.“They recorded themselves. They did a sort of sermon around the altar, in Arabic. It’s a horror,” she told BFM television.Of her fallen colleague, she said: “He was a great priest.”
