The Select Committee on Benghazi has released their final report on the 2012 terrorist attacks in Libya that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
Instead of rescuing personnel, the Obama administration “huddled to craft their public response while military assets waited hours to deploy to Libya.” Evidence also showed that security forces under ex-dictator Qaddafi actually helped move out the U.S. personnel from the annex.
It’s important to remember that during these meetings and negotiations, terrorists attacked our consulate and killed four brave Americans.
The White House met at 7:30PM for a two-hour meeting even though no one could find Stevens. This is where they planned to blame a YouTube video and insisted they needed approval from the Libyan government to deploy anyone to help the personnel.
Anti-terrorism security team known as FAST waited three hours in Rota, Spain, before deployment after waiting over six hours for official notification. The hold up? Officials told them “multiple times to change what we were wearing from cammies into civilian attire, civilian attire into cammies, cammies into civilian attire.”
While our people discussed little details, the Libyan Military Intelligence “helped evacuate U.S. personnel from the so-called ‘annex’ in the end – ‘likely saving over two dozen lives.'” So officers from the regime we toppled helped save our people while our officials squabbled over procedure and YouTube videos.
Speaking of those YouTube videos, no one at the FBI or CIA prepped Susan Rice for her Sunday shows. Instead, Obama campaign chief David Plouffe and Ben Rhodes spoke to her about the situation. Rhodes insisted Plouffe assisted on other Sunday prep shows, but Rice didn’t remember the last time he appeared and had no idea why he participated on hers.
But officials at the State Department did not welcome her comments about a YouTube video:
The Senior Libya Desk Officer, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, State Department, wrote: “I think Rice was off the reservation on this one.” The Deputy Director, Office of Press and Public Diplomacy, Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, State Department, responded: “Off the reservation on five networks!” The Senior Advisor for Strategic Communications, Bureau of Near East Affairs, State Department, wrote: “WH [White House] very worried about the politics. This was all their doing.”
Witnesses also did not mention a protest before the attack despite officials claiming a protest had something to do with it. Well, the committee found a bullet point on one of the intelligence assessments that mentioned a protest a week before the attacks:
“In other words, the analysts used an article from a full week before the attacks to support the premise that a protest had occurred just prior to the attack on September 11,” wrote the committee.
The report quotes an agent at the Benghazi compound as hearing chanting before a full-on attack begins, including explosions and gunfire and “70 people rushing into the compound with an assortment of “AK-47s, grenades, RPG’s … a couple of different assault rifles.”Another security officer described the assault as “a full on attack against our compound.”Asked if he had seen a protest before the attacks, the officer said: “zip, nothing, nada.”
U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens became the first ambassador to die on the job. The terrorists also killed foreign service officer Sean Smith and former Navy Seals Ty Woods and Glen Doherty.
