Earlier today, Donald Trump announced his own personal boycott of Fox News via tweet. Trump alleged Fox News’ treatment was “unfair.”
And so the ongoing battle between Trump and cable news network rages on. A spokesman for Fox News told CNN Trump’s boycott announcement followed their cancellation of his scheduled appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor.”
“At 11:45 a.m. today, we canceled Donald Trump’s scheduled appearance on The O’Reilly Factor on Thursday, which resulted in Mr. Trump’s subsequent tweet about his ‘boycott’ of Fox News,” the spokesperson wrote in an email. …Fox News declined to specify why they had canceled Trump’s appearance, but it came after a series of tweets Trump wrote Monday criticizing “The O’Reilly Factor.””I am having a really hard time watching Fox News,” Trump had tweeted, while claiming that the show had been “very negative to me” because its guests were all “Trump haters.””When coverage doesn’t go his way, he engages in personal attacks on our anchors and hosts, which has grown stale and tiresome,” the Fox News spokesperson said.”He doesn’t seem to grasp that candidates telling journalists what to ask is not how the media works in this country.”
Since announcing his candidacy Trump has been one of Fox New’s favorite topics of discussion, and has appeared frequently on various shows. He’s received a fair amount of attention from Fox News host and radio personality Sean Hannity.
Trump made hay of the first Republican presidential debate when he later accused moderator Megyn Kelly of unfair questioning. The spat was a headline mainstay for a good week.
Evidence suggests a direct correlation between the amount of media coverage he receives and Trump’s ascendancy in the polls.
After what many viewed as a poor performance in the last GOP debate, and with the lionshare of media attention focused on Carly Fiorina, this looks less like a genuine beef with Fox News and more like Trump attempting to ride the Fox News Fight wave back into the spotlight. Unfortunately for Trump, that wave crested and crashed last week.
After packing a stadium in Dallas early last week, a Trump event in South Carolina held today resulted in a meager turnout.
Today, Bloomberg released a survey that showed of all the presidential contenders, Trump polled worst on the question of who was most realistically presidential.
Yesterday, Trump sent at letter to the Club for Growth demanding demanding the conservative organization stop running negative ads about his penchant for leveraging eminent domain at peril of legal action.
