A good way to predict the future is to look at the past.Using this approach, I have some predictions about what is likely to happen next in the campaign of my current favorite presidential aspirant: Carly Fiorina. To do so, I will look at what happened to Sarah Palin in the wake of her dynamic speech accepting the GOP nomination for Vice President.Palin’s presentation was so energetic and moving that she instantly became a target of smears by progressives across the nation, particularly progressive feminists. Her hair, clothing, accent, and family were demeaned, degraded, and dismissed during the 2008 campaign season, and her humiliation is still not complete (e.g., Jon Stewart deriding the “folksy idioms” used by Palin during the Iowa Freedom Summit).Fiornia just gave a brilliant performance and an amazing introduction to the American people…so let the mocking begin:
During Thursday’s undercard debate, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina noted her business experience, which during her tenure saw the tech company’s revenue double to $90 billion.Democrats, predictably, disagreed with her description of her experience, so they tweeted the following:
For those who weren’t watching the debate, Fiorina wore a pink suit. Of all the disbelief GIFs the Democrats could have chosen, they chose one of a small blonde girl in a pink jacket?
Had this been a tweet from the Republicans about Hillary Clinton, the phrase “war on women” certainly would have been attached. It should be no difference for the Democrats.
I am sure that there will be more banality, too. The review of her business history is fair game, and in all probability, she is poised to ably defend herself. However, I suspect that comparing her to a little girl is going to be rather ineffective.
On the plus side for Palin, she became an instant style icon following her speech. For example, many American women still want to figure out to get Palin’s hair:
And the fascination with Palin’s shoes is legendary.
So, I predict that the sales of pink suits will skyrocket in the wake of the GOP debate. I am personally planning to buy one. Fiorina oozed power, smarts, and class during the Fox News hosted event. Women who want to emulate her success will be inclined to copy her style.
Palin’s family was the focus of much sensational reporting. Who can forget the left’s psychotic obsession over Trig? More recently, a charity was targeted by IRS employee Lois Lerner because of Bristol Palin’s involvement.
The Senate Finance Committee released the results of its two-year investigation into the Internal Revenue Service’s targeting of conservative groups Wednesday, with revealing looks at Lerner’s emails.One email, cited by Chairman Orrin Hatch as an “example of Lerner’s interest in conservative organizations,” asked whether the IRS should open an audit of Candie’s Foundation, which paid Palin $332,500 in compensation to be a celebrity spokesperson. Lerner was concerned that the salary figure could violate IRS rules against charitable groups being for the private benefit of individuals.
I hope Fiorina’s family is prepared for the onslaught.
Even though Fiorina is very different than Palin in many aspects, they are both dangerous to progressives. Fiornia is especially so right now, since she offers such a remarkable contrast to the dull, humorless, and style-challenged Hillary Clinton.
