There is yet another pageant answer controversy brewing.
On Sunday night beautiful ladies from all over the world competed in the 2015 Miss Universe pagaent in Miami, Florida. Miss Columbia was ultimately crowned ‘Miss Universe,’ but it was Miss America’s [stet – Miss USA] answer during the interview portion of the pagaent that may be the most newsworthy-ish moment of the evening. To the surprise of viewers, international boxing phenom Manny Pacquiao asked Miss America [stet – Miss USA], Nia Sanchez of Nevada, the following question: “If you were given 30 seconds to deliver a message to a global terrorist, what would you say?’
Her answer was:
I know as Miss USA I can always spread a message of hope and love and peace and so I would do my very best to spread that message to them and everyone else in the world.
The internet exploded.
But was it really so wrong a message, at least in the context of the Miss Universe pageant?
What was she supposed to say: “You can run, but you can’t hide”? “You love death? Good, we’ll give you what you want.”
