It hasn’t been a good month for Hillary Clinton. It has been a very very bad month, in fact.
This was supposed to be a great month with the launch of her new biography “Hard Choices.” The book tour had her featured on every major television news and entertainment program in the country. Hillary’s face was popping up across the fruited plains from Albuquerque to Zanesville. Things were looking good for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 preview.
But then the wheels came off.
Here are the five horrible stories that slowed down the Clinton Express in the last few weeks:
Karl Rove caught a lot of grief in May when he suggested that Hillary’s December 2012 fall was more than met the eyes.
Onstage with Robert Gibbs and CBS correspondent and “Spies Against Armageddon” co-author Dan Raviv, Rove said Republicans should keep the Benghazi issue alive.He said if Clinton runs for president, voters must be told what happened when she suffered a fall in December 2012.The official diagnosis was a blood clot. Rove told the conference near LA Thursday, “Thirty days in the hospital? And when she reappears, she’s wearing glasses that are only for people who have traumatic brain injury? We need to know what’s up with that.”
Rove was widely scorned but a new book — “Blood Feud” — being released this week suggests maybe Rove was onto something.
While the Klein book will be attacked, people still are talking about Hillary’s health. And that’s not a winner for Team Hillary.
After the Rove allegations of a serious brain injury, Hillary’s book tour began with a cover story in People Magazine.
Unfortunately, the cover photo was cropped a bit too carefully for some people and a new meme began.

Hillary Needs A Walker To Stand!
People Magazine even had to debunk the theories — but the “Hillary is too old” refrain definitely won’t end.
Clinton’s book tour started with the former First Lady and Senator showing complete tone deafness by telling Diane Sawyer at ABC News that she and Bill Clinton were “dead broke” when they left The White House in 2000.
Well, if you — you have no reason to remember, but we came out of the White House not only dead broke, but in debt. We had no money when we got there and we struggled to, you know, piece together the resources for mortgages for houses, for Chelsea’s education, you know, it was not easy.
The Hillary-as-pauper story was roundly debunked and even mainstream media outlets began to laugh at the idea that the Clintons were anything but multi-millionaires.
Hillary stepped into it again over the weekend when she told the Guardian newspaper that she isn’t “truly well off” despite the over $100 million her family has made since Bill Clinton left office.
Not even left-leaning political commentator Jeff Greenfield can take much more.
The American people seem tired. Tired of Obamas, Bushes and yes, Clintons. President Obama hit record lows in public opinion polls over the last week.
President Barack Obama’s approval rating is tied for the lowest mark since the beginning of his presidency, a new poll says.According to a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll, 41 percent of respondents approve of Obama’s performance as president, tied for the lowest point in his presidency. His approval rating on foreign policy sits at 37 percent, setting a new low.
So if Hillary does run for President — she will have to buck the idea that she’s essentially a stand-in for Barack Obama’s third term. But that may not be her toughest hill to climb. American’s don’t like royalty and that’s what the Bushes and Clintons seem to have become to many.
The American public seems weary of any former President’s family member running for The White House in 2016.
For the large and growing plurality of Americans who identify as independent, there’s seemingly no way to opt out of the compulsive-repetitive disorder among legacy media types and partisan string-pullers. What is it that Faulkner said in Requiem for a Nun (1950)? “The past is never dead. It’s not even past.” Who knew that he was talking about politics in the goddamned 21st century, not Yoknapatawpha County after the Civil War?It’s not a mystery why elites would totally dig a retro contest between two of the nation’s least-appealing families. It would mean that zombified pundits such as David Gergen, whose lack of cogency is directly proportional to the number of administrations in which he served, could push off retirement a few more years and writers such as Dowd, who peaked in terms of what passes for wit and originality during the Clinton era, could recycle old columns as unashamedly as Cate Blanchet recycles plastic bags at the local Safeway. GOP and Democratic apparatchiks and their big-money enablers wouldn’t have to struggle with the grim and unavoidable fact that fewer and fewer of us are willing to identify with either party – even to strangers on the phone.
Also in the new book “Blood Feud” by Edward Klein comes this shocking new account of the Benghazi terror attack that occurred on September 11, 2012.
[Hillary Clinton] had no doubt that a terrorist attack had been launched against America on the anniversary of 9/11. However, when Hillary picked up the phone and heard Obama’s voice, she learned the president had other ideas in mind. With less than two months before Election Day, he was still boasting that he had al Qaeda on the run.If the truth about Benghazi became known, it would blow that argument out of the water.“Hillary was stunned when she heard the president talk about the Benghazi attack,” one of her top legal advisers said in an interview. “Obama wanted her to say that the attack had been a spontaneous demonstration triggered by an obscure video on the Internet that demeaned the Prophet Mohammed.”A protester exults as the US Consulate in Benghazi burns during a protest by an armed group in September 2012 that killed US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others.This adviser continued: “Hillary told Obama, ‘Mr. President, that story isn’t credible. Is Klein’s account true?
Benghazi still is alive as an issue, and four Americans still are dead. And June didn’t change that for Hillary’s presidential campaign.

Team Hillary probably wishes she could go back in time and rerun June 2014. But hey, at least she got an extra shoe for her travels.
