where will we be?
Big day here.
Will create an “open” post somewhere around 9:30 a.m. waiting to find out if the Supreme Court Kremlinologists have been right.
Or not.
Then will follow up with a post detailing my take on the decision.
Followed by the House vote to hold Eric Holder in contempt.
Predictions: The internet will break and Twitter will crack under the strain.
Complete meltdown of the blog is possible (and secretly hoped for).

Grateful Dead and the Kinks. I’m in heaven. A little Velvet Underground or early Allman Brothers might kill me.
I love the Kinks! Too bad they are commies.
The Waiting is the Hardest Part…thank you Tom Petty. Hope I can sleep tonight.
What do you figure, that Obama and the WH already know; that they were tipped off weeks ago?
Think of all the people who know and who have known for weeks. Justices and clerks probably are tight lipped I suppose. But secretaries who help the judges and clerks have known, the printers at the Court itself have to have known as they set up the galleys. Lots of occasions for the little bit of info dropping.
I think he knows for sure.
Sleep?
I’ve had a frog in my throat all week-and a hole in my gut.
Damn the torpedoes!

i’d rather Congress join me in holding Holder in contempt…
after all, there is no defense for what he’s done.
%-)
Yes, there is. The perpetual defense of RACE. Read with sadness this Cong. Black Caucus letter condemning the contempt vote and their plans on what they will do to protest. It’s never about standards, lying, unethical behavior. It’s always, always, always, about RACE.
http://influencealley.nationaljournal.com/2012/06/black-lawmakers-plot-walkout-s.php
Follow the money. RACE=$.
As long as stupid white people keep buying into the whole guilt and extortion racket, blacks will keep taking our money.
Blacks are not and can never be equal partners in this society except on paper.
That ol’ hate-twisted bigot just keeps squirting out, huh?
Yeah, don’t know why I put “defense” meant “contempt”
or who he is…
Wow, strange, I had Lola V Powerman in the deck earlier this morning.
I wasnt in the car long though, so never really got past Apeman (which is always where that album starts when played in my vicinity)
Yep. Great tune.
Written by Ray Davies about a U.S. Marine, marching in a parade, eating an Oreo, saluting Obama.
oh btw, if we happen to lose tomorrow, and since you are on a Dead kick anyway, I think this will sadly need to be the highlighted track in honor of our fine Country.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wnY8bQWOHDs
Hope it doesn’t come to that though!
I keep trying to fight the good fight, but, frankly, this country is so far gone I no longer have any expectation of anything good happening. For instance, the news about the EPA decision today is hugely detrimental and may well be our death knell. The obastardcare decision coming down tomorrow may be entirely moot in view of it. Our only real hope is the 2012 election, and even that’s nothing to shout about when you consider who our candidate will likely be.
Well, if ever there was a time for an open thread-this is it (not like you really had a choice)
The Kinks? Really??
Can we have a week of them–to make of for the Bee-Gees–or however you “spell” them?
I would love a week of Kinks to make up for what appears to be a week of Grateful Dead.
🙂

I was hoping for “God Bless America” as “belted out” by Kate Smith!
great suggestion!

My, my. She had a distinctive, powerful voice. No wonder Irving Berlin choose her to sing “God Bless America” for the first time.
Thank you for the link.
I just want everyone to understand what is at stake tomorrow.
This law is 2,600 pages.
This 2,600 pages is merely the framework for the 20,000 additional pages unelected bureaucrats have the luxury of filling in lateer, at their whim.
It changes the tax code.
It changes everything
This is not about buying insurance.
This all about–from the word go–regulating your health
What is your “health”?
Good question…isn’t it??
Something NO ONE has, as of yet, bothered to ask.
No worries–the marxist have been busy bees–ready to define it for you.
Won’t you be surprised!
(This is my last rant before the ruling–God be with us all)
Regardless of the decisions of the court and congress tomorrow, my view is there can be no let up between now and Jan 20, 2013. I say this because my “gut” is telling me that Obama narrowly wins re-election, the GOP retains a majority in the House, but does not gain it in the Senate. The implications of this are enormous.
Call me a pessimist. However, I’ve been listening to what is being said not by MSM, not by bloggers, but by “persons-in-the-street.” As disappointed as some of them are, as disgusted as some of them are, they are not ready to abandon Obama. Four + months to go.
Maybe, just maybe, they just don’t want to admit they’ve abandoned him. Maybe they don’t stick up for him because there’s so much ammo against him and they don’t want to hear it, but stating they’ve given up on him may be too much of an admission of having been wrong.
Just a thought based on human nature.
“How could we have been so wrong?!”
Yes, there’s that element, as well as those who still believe he’ll succeed, if only “given a chance.”
Someone asked many years ago Browndog…..
http://youtu.be/fRdLpem-AAs
Nervous. Very nervous.
I appreciate the humor, music, and attempts to be positive. However, I don’t recall another time when I have had this level of concern about our country. If we can’t win this one, with this court, we are in real trouble.
I think the reference was “Down in some lonesome valley, hanging from a tall oak tree.”
I’m calm as a sloop becalmed on a windless sea knowing tomorrow’s day lasts but 24 hours but, will live in history.
We will be part of that history, win, lose, or draw.
I can wait and will sleep well tonight.
Trying to hold my breath that long….can.not.wait.
Twitter and blog meltdown are more likely (from us, anyway) if we win. If we don’t, I’ll be breaking out the gin and weeping for America. Oh, and probably typing snarky and/or angry tweets all day. Luckily, my “angry tweets” look like love letters compared to the rape fantasies and death threats and name-calling that will spew from the left if 0Care is shot down.
I won’t be breaking out the gin, back in March 2010 I don’t think any of us seriously thought the Supremes would save us on this one. Heh- we’re conservatives and we usually expect we’ll be let down. I totally agree with Rush on this one:
So that’s it 20 minutes of drinking gin, weeping or kicking kittens as we conservative folk are wont to do 😉
So perfect, Mary Sue! I’ve said all along that I don’t care what the Superemes say, that 0Care has to be repealed. I guess with the ruling being so close, I lost my head for a moment. I’ll skip the gin and weeping, and keep my eye on the prize: keeping the House, winning the Senate, and kicking 0 and Moochelle out in November (well, they won’t go until January, but you know what I mean :)).
Onward!
I heard Rush on this today, and I just do not agree. I will be estatic regardless of the outcome. If the individual mandate is struck down, Mitt campaigns on killing the rest, except the part people like (we’ve got to admit that once it has been given to the people, it can not be taken away, else we lose), and replace those parts funded more reasonably. If by some miracle the entire ObamaCare monstrosity is affirmed, Mitt runs on killing it, but keeping the parts people want, funded by more reasonable means. I see this as a win/win, and though I live in Rush’s Realville, on this one, I disagree with him.
I think there’s a old college song that some of the ‘frat boys sang. It goes something like:
If we lose, we’re going to get drunk like we’ve never got drunk before.
If we win, we’re going to get drunk like we’ve never got drunk before.
So, whether we lose or we win, we’re going to get drunk like we’ve never got drunk before.
I wish I had the capacity to pound down a three-martini lunch. I may have to develop the capacity.
I don’t know about you professor but the idea that our only relief from such an intrusive mandate is the legislative process makes me feel like the Constitution would officially be in tatters.
I spend most days documenting and describing this administration’s actual plans for education and the kind of social and economic transformation they think they can stealthily obtain. When you are confronted with tyrannical aspirations, it is important to believe that disclosure will be enough.
That we are not devolving back into a subject, “by your leave”, relationship with the state.
Increasingly, I fear the problems facing this country cannot be solved at the ballot box. Progressives don’t respect the democratic process, they don’t respect the concept of rule of law and they reject the constitution outright.
The “process” inevitably notches America toward their goal. They know they are close and that a few more small victories will seal the deal for them. What do Americans do then?
What have we done? What terrible options have we left to our posterity?
Blood.
There are lots of rumours floating about that Kagan gave a heads-up to the White House. It’s all bad news for them apparently.
There are lots of rumors floating about that Kagan gave a heads-up to the White House. It’s all bad news for them apparently.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
From the voice of God to Kagan’s fat lips….I hope you’re right.
Sources?
Rumors, innuendo, lies, damn lies, and statistics.
Professor, do you still have those fireworks around? Use them all tomorrow; I don’t care if they run out for the 4th.
I’ve actually seen both Kate Smith and The Kinks at the old Spectrum in Philly. Both excellent I may add. Oh, spend the day drinking either way.
Once something the left loves is ruled “legal” by the Supreme Court…it becomes a Constitutional right.
Then it becomes mandated.
Being mandated, it becomes “free”
Legislation to repeal Obamacare will be challenged–and overturned…
Because Obamacare is now a Constitutional right.
Abortion, sodomy, unions…you name it–It’s in the Constitution–:Precedent, from one Court, deemed it so.
No longer a “right”, but a “mandate”
Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of an abortion/sodomy/Obamacare.
To put this decision into context the driving social theory behind so much of what is being implemented now in education, K-12 and higher ed, tracks back to a rejection of the concept of individuality.
Here’s a quote of what I am dealing with as I push into what “college and career ready” for All students means:
“This notion [free-standing individuals] is replaced here with a concept of persons as members of social collectivities–collectivities that, to a significant extent, shape individual decisions.”
If our schools are rejecting the concept of individuality, what will happen if SCOTUS says this kind of intrusive “you must do” is permissable.
We really will be in a statist vice.
Yep. When the Left says ‘race’, ‘gender’, ‘collectivity’ etc, they mean ‘class’.
Of course they’re too sophisticated to take Marx literally.
But they’ll maintain that he had valid insights and that his ideas—all together now!—have not been implemented properly.
What if:
They try to split the baby? As happens all too often in big, momentous cases….essentially kicking the can down the road?
They say “hey, we reject this law as written. Change “may” to “might”, “shall” to “should” and dot that “i”. Send it back to the lower court(s).
What if they reach the correct decision, but for the wrong reasons?
WHAT IF THIS COUNTRY NEEDS A CLEAR DIRECTION FORWARD THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE MARXISM?
(it’s hot and sticky–caps stuck…sorry…global warming, and all)
I would like to see it killed off so that Michael Tomasky & co will be crying “DEATH PANEL”.
Hehe that would be so ironic .
I hope that This Time Tomorrow I am singing Better Things.
If the Republic is left intact after the ruling tomorrow, I will be spiking a football.
Don’t have one off hand, but I’m betting I can trade the neighbor kid two baseballs, one softball, two basketballs and a hackey sack for his-
Besides, Boehner, you Buck-eyes are done telling us Wolverines what to do with a football!
GO BLUE
You’re in Michigan, Browndog?
Aye.
Naturally…
Ah, so am I. Up near Lansing. Are you involved in MI politics at all? I ask because I signed up with the MI Republican Party a few months ago to volunteer but have heard zilch from them, not even an spam e-mail or junk mail. Nothing. I’m trying to figure out what step to take next but I’m not sure where to turn. I suppose I could just try to contact Romney’s and Hoekstra’s campaigns directly.
I have NO FAITH left anymore. And HOPE is a four-letter word now, just like CHANGE.
It’s a grim vigil.
Perhaps, this might aid in it not being a “grim” vigil.
“I was riding with Mr. Potts near to the Valley Forge where the army lay during the war of ye Revolution, when Mr. Potts said, ‘Do you see that woods & that plain? There laid the army of Washington. It was a most distressing time of ye war, and all were for giving up the Ship but that great and good man. In that woods (pointing to a close in view) I heard a plaintive sound as of a man at prayer. I tied my horse to a sapling & went quietly into the woods. To my astonishment I saw the great George Washington on his knees alone, with his sword on one side and his cocked hat on the other. He was at Prayer to the God of the Armies, beseeching to interpose with his Divine aid, as it was ye Crisis & the cause of the country, of humanity & of the world. Such a prayer I never heard from the lips of man. I left him alone praying. I went home & told my wife. We never thought a man could be a soldier & a Christian, but if there is one in the world, it is Washington. We thought it was the cause of God & America could prevail.”
Source: Eyewitness testimony of Isaac Potts, a Valley Forge resident who shared the following story with the Rev. Nathaniel Randolph Snowden (1770-1851), who then recorded it in his “Diary and Remembrances.”
Thank-you for sharing that.
Can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.
Tomorrow is the day when Romney wins the Presidency.
I’m not much for the Dead or the Kinks. I keep hearing the opening notes from “One Day More” from Les Miserables…
One day more!
Another day, another destiny.
This never-ending road to Calvary…
Tomorrow is the judgement day
Tomorrow we’ll discover
What our God in Heaven has in store!
One more dawn
One more day
One day more!
Of course, I had that running through my head November 3, 2008. That didn’t work out so well….
I feel like a little Duran Duran, “Is There Something I should Know” is in order: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cB-Crjeqa5M
I’ve never seen that clip, thanks for posting it.
Of all the awful lyrics from the ’80s, I have to say that “don’t say you’re easy on me, you’re about as easy as a nuclear war” is right up there with the worst. I guess Simon thought he was Van Dyke Parks.
Not that that stops me from enjoying the song.
[…] Readers: The Professor is offering the “Kinks” as a musical interlude, in anticipation of tomorrow’s Obamacare decision. However, being a fan of Duran Duran, I […]
lf the ruling is wrong tomorrow it is simply a continuation of what has been business as usual from the connected eletes. You arent disappointed when you expect nothing from them except what serves their ends. Given Romey is our candidate l have little expectation he will be other than what he is. l continue to hope for the best but experiance tells me to hedge my bets. l am fully prepared to return to the mattress’s & do everything l can to make a hash of their efforts. lf enough of you do your thing to the same ends they can be thwarted. l suspect the coming ruling can be made a win if we all work to make it such.
That’s it… can’t hold it in anymore….just gotta let it out.
If…If…If…
It is time to realize that IF the decision is a victory for O, the fight SHALL continue.
It is time to realize that IF the decision is a defeat to O, the fight SHALL continue.
Either way those bones roll, the fight is nowhere near over. If anything…now is the time to ask oneself how willing they are to go the distance, suffer the blows, stretch limited resources, and still be able to reach down and find the energy to take another step.
This is the time where Heros rise, Champions push forth, and Patriots dig in.

“We are to regard existance as a raid, or great adventure; it is to be judged, therefore, not by what calamities it encounters, but what flag it follows and what high town it assaults. The most dangerous thing in the world is to be alive; one is always in danger of one’s life. But anyone who shrinks from that is a traitor to the great scheme and experiment of being” – G.K. that simple.
In one week, we will have the 4th…. Am sure many others are going to be feeling the same. Something about the 4th following so close to today… This 4th is going to h ave a lot of patriots mobilizing because the next seven days are going to be historical.
DocWahala, wishes he cwas back in the states right now… One way or the other, the streets are going to be jumping.
The 4th is the best: Cherries, Berries, and Fireworks. What is not to like?
It will be a big f’n deal…
