Does she not understand how offensive it is to be caught latching onto the coattails of someone else’s martyrdom in her pursuit of personal gain?Native Americans were massacred, plundered, displaced and herded onto reservations where misery, depravation and despair darkened a barren existence. They were described as “merciless savages” when our Declaration of Independence was authored, and well into the 1950s they were still portrayed as barbarians by Hollywood directors and TV cowboys. Not unlike slavery, it’s a part of our past that now haunts America’s conscience. To Elizabeth Warren, however, it offered great political camouflage, a dramatic touch to her resume, as she claimed to be a descendant of those who suffered mercilessly, as if she was somehow deserving of our sympathies, too.Please. What she deserves is our contempt.

What a coincidence. Less than two weeks after President Obama “evolved” into openly supporting same-sex marriage, the NAACP has passed a resolution supporting it too. “Civil marriage is a civil right and a matter of civil law,” NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous explained. He added that “the NAACP’s support for marriage equality is deeply rooted in the Fourteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution and equal protection of all people.”I don’t know about that, but I do know that the NAACP’s support for “marriage equality” is deeply rooted in its desire to serve Barack Obama. Polls show that Blacks as a group are opposed to gay marriage. Obama needs the full, enthusiastic support of Black voters and potential voters. The NAACP’s resolution should be understood as an effort at damage control with this constituency.
