the intertubes in and around Sanford, Florida, heavily armed with knowledge, facts, and skepticism, seeking to protect citizens regardless of race, creed, or color, from race-hustlers, race-haters, 15-minutes of fame seekers, jump-on-the-story journalists, bully bloggers, and web-traffic pumpers.

Thanks to the 280+ Facebook sharers and 1800+ Twitters who shared Sanford (FL) Police deny any indication of neo-Nazis patrolling, and particularly but not limited to “retwitter” patrol members (in no particular order) suhr mesa, kitty, swan spirit. Jack Stamp, Linda Des, Josh Painter, Vicky Wagner, Apropos of What, AnneLeary, Deb Singer, Marcy aka Mel, JD Williams, misslexi, Polliwogette2, John Gordon, fearless twitterer Jerri Jones, and many others.

And readers ClinkinKY, Sybill, and many others who reached out and tried to touch those promoting the falsehood.

And bloggers who provided logistical help by getting the link out, including but not limited to Prof. Glenn Reynolds, Gateway Pundit, Weasel Zippers, and many others.

The result is that the original blog post which gave rise to an internet craze about neo-Nazis partolling the streets of Sanford now, finally, after millions read the story or heard about it without equivocation, carries this disclaimer:

UPDATE: The Sanford Police Department says that it has no evidence of neo-Nazis in the area. “We have not seen any neo-Nazis on patrol nor have we had any reports of them,” says Sgt. David Morgenstern. He added that there had been no sign of the New Black Panther Party, either.
