Obama gave a speech to the United Auto Workers laced with what Greg Sargeant described as “withering derision”:
A key line: “I keep on hearing these same folks talk about values all the time. You want to talk about values? Hard work: That’s a value. Looking out for one another: That’s a value. The idea that we’re all in it together and I’m my brother’s and sister’s keeper: That’s a value.”
Obama got plenty of cheers from the auto union members.
Will it work in November with the rest of the nation?

About the LAST person I’d like to be is Barackah’s actual, factual brother. Talk about SOL…
“Will it work in November with the rest of the nation?”
No.
I saw a re-tweet today from Michelle Malkin:
@Brendan_Buck said, “Per the pool report, memebers of the audience responded to POTUS speech w/shouts of “union made!”
@michellemalkin said, “And union PAID!”
Heh. I wonder how much the UAW paid the audience members to attend and sit through that – and cheer?!
In a word….No
No. A slight majority already voted for a “historical moment” in order to allay any unresolved feelings of guilt, real, perceived, or deceived. I don’t believe that a majority of Americans are masochistic. Although, promises to fulfill dreams of physical, material, and ego instant gratification are a powerful inducement. Well, maybe not masochistic, but opportunistic and corrupt. Hopefully, not in any measurable majority.
cue the new springsteen song written for obama’s campaign, ‘we take care of our own’. it’s all showbiz, folks…and it might just work (again).
Overturning centuries of contract law to give to your friends, that’s a value. Giving $50 billion of taxpayer funds to a private company that cannot pay it back, that’s a value. Etc, etc. etc. Yes, Obama has “values’. They are just not American values.
