The EU sense of humor.

It’s easy to pick on the EU’s operation in Brussels. When they aren’t spending six figures on cocktail parties, they choose to spend their time whining or condemning things normal people don’t even think to discuss. For example:

Brussels bureaucrats were ridiculed yesterday after banning drink manufacturers from claiming that water can prevent dehydration. EU officials concluded that, following a three-year investigation, there was no evidence to prove the previously undisputed fact.

I actually don’t mind the ridiculous claims by Brussels. That’s just fluff. Getting angry about this is akin to whining about earmarks; it’s good to make a point about the way government works, but it isn’t the biggest challenge government reform is facing.

The tough issues are the ones that aren’t so easy to read or to see. Nigel Farage had a pretty good rant that sums up the unwarranted political power that this three-ring circus has wrought.
