The recall effort against Scott Walker is being led by United Wisconsin, which bills itself as a non-partisan group.
Of course, that’s nonsense, this a Democratic effort through and through, as reported by WISC Madison:
Members of United Wisconsin, the group coordinating the recall effort against Gov. Scott Walker, said they are a grassroots, independent organization with one mission: to recall the governor and lieutenant governor….The group’s opponents said that they believe United Wisconsin’s activities is simply masking the work of the state’s Democratic Party.”We knew that one of these groups would be formed for the purposes of putting a cover into the state Democratic Party’s efforts and that’s what United Wisconsin is,” said Brian Schimming, with the Republican Party of WisconsinRepublican Party charges its Democratic counterparts are too involved in United Wisconsin’s efforts to call the group independent.The group’s executive director worked for the party while three other paid staffers had previously worked for progressive-leaning groups or volunteered on Democratic campaigns. Many of United Wisconsin’s fundraising appeals come directly from the party chair and office contacts around the state all have Democratic Party email addresses.Republican Party charges its Democratic counterparts are too involved in United Wisconsin’s efforts to call the group independent.
In other news, someone apparently tried to organize a cemetery name gathering for petitions to recall Walker; I don’t know if that’s for real or not, but would anyone be surprised if it were?
