Wisconsin Recall
Recall elections are being held today against six Republican State Senators. I feel like I’ve covered Wisconsin so much this year, today is somewhat anti-climactic. But it’s not, it is very important.
Unions need to win back three seats to take control of the majority in the Senate (assuming the two remaining recalls against Democratic Senators next week fail). Taking back the Senate will not change the collective bargaining law, but it will provide a spark of life for the public sector unions and Democratic flame-throwers who have disgraced Wisconsin for months. A failure to take back the Senate will be a devastating blow.

Some more updates:
- Politico is right that Wisconsin is the opening round in the 2012 election.
- DefendWisconsin.org, a pro-Democratic union of U. Wisconsin teaching assistants, already is complaining about voter intimidation.
- An blogger at the San Francisco Chronicle website claims that Gov. Scott Walker staged the riot by black youth at the Wisconsin State Fair to influence the recall elections.
- JSOnline is reporting heavy turnout, but it’s hard to get a sense from the article of whether this is in precincts likely to favor a particular candidate. Even TPM is unwilling to spin the turnout in a particular direction, although give them time.
