Obama was interviewed by Brian Williams yesterday. Once again, Obama exhibited the sort of disdain towards a substantial portion of the population as he did in his bitter clinger comments back in 2008.
You will remember that at a private cocktail party in April 2008 in San Francisco, Obama made the following statement:
You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not.
And it’s not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy toward people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations.
Obama thus sought to delegitimize opposition to his policies (at that time, his proposed policies) as nothing more than an emotional reaction driven by hatred, fear, and inherent racism or xenophobia.
In the interview yesterday, Obama was asked about the Restoring Honor rally on Saturday, attended by hundreds of thousands of people and which dominated the news over the weekend.
After noting that he had not watched the event (so how could he comment on it?), Obama nonetheless chose to characterize the attendees as the same sort of bitter clingers of whom he had spoken in San Francisco more than two years earlier:
“It’s not surprising that someone like a Mr. Beck is able to stir up a certain portion of [the American people]. … That’s been true throughout our history.”
Thus, in his dismissive tone, Obama once again reduced opposition to his policies to nothing more than mob rule, or worse.
Obama doesn’t seem to realize that his dismissive comments and attitude are undermining his presidency as much as his policies. Obama just can’t see opposition as anything other than the mob.
But Obama’s mob now constitutes a plurality if not an outright majority of the population.
Insulting a majority of the population is not a good political strategy. But it is the only strategy Obama knows. And the results are showing.

The man is obscenely arrogant and continues to look down his nose at anyone who opposes his policies. There is no civil debate with him, you either agree with him or you are part of the mind-numb mob under the spell of crazies such as Beck, Limbaugh or, heaven forbid, Palin. Hopefully the Restoring Honor Rally will help restore honor to the Presidency come 2012.
This is the logical denouement of the Alinsky prescription. Make enough enemies and they eventually outnumber your allies.
Opposition to this regime's policies, this President and the left in general is coming to a head. The McClatchy owned newspaper in Columbia, SC..The State…shut down the comments on the AP article it ran online about the "Restoring Honor" rally in DC for fear of the truth coming out! Talk about arrogance!
Obama doesn't do "strategy" — it's not his temperament. The obdurate Marxist is a relentless tactician who wins a lot of battles but will lose the war.

It seems that Obama's views represent about 20% of the population. On any given topic, about 70% of the nation is against him. Beck and Palin are not that great, yet by expousing simple facts, they become superior stars. Maybe, Obama is on the wrong side of the spectrum?
I suspect that he was raised in an atmosphere where he was considered special and his teachers at Columbia and harvard shared his more outre views so he got the idea that all right thinking people think as he does and everyone who doesn't it too stupid to be taken seriously.
Arrogance is its own reward. Obama certainly knows he's losing a lot of people but since he knows he's right, change is something he hopes the rest of us will do.
It's Chapter Next of "I don't know the details, but the Harvard police acted stupidly." He found a way to do a PR schmooze through that particular gaffe, but Beck's a recovering alcoholic, so there can be no beer summit here.
What did Alinsky say about the unavailability of beer summits?
When has President Malignant Noisome Pestilence ever been to a small town in the mid-west, ever?
And of course there is "antipathy toward people who aren't like them", when the person who "aren't like them" doesn't tell the truth about anything, and heaps scorns upon all within earshot and sight. One must perhaps be grateful this "person" could not lie in his speech last night, admit he was wrong about the surge, Iraq, President Bush etc.
