Another Black Conservative has the best observation (h/t Jim Treacher) on Spencer Ackerman’s suggestion that other journalists and bloggers make up charges of racism to help Obama’s campaign (emphasis mine):
What is astounding is that none on the listsev objects to making up racism, they only object to whether or not the strategy will backfire on Obama. Given the racial tensions that already exist in this nation, I find it a particularly evil to add to that tension by making stuff up for political gain.
I had not focused on that point. I was more interested in the evil of making up the false charges in the first instance.
It says a lot about the state of liberal journalism and the left-wing blogosphere that false accusations of racism concocted for political purposes were taken in stride.
Just another day at the office. Just another person smeared. Just another step backward in race relations. No biggie, apparently.
