“Anyone who believes that the Government abuses its secrecy powers in order to keep the citizenry in the dark and manipulate public opinion — and who, at this point, doesn’t believe that? — should be squarely on the side of the greater transparency which Wikileaks and its sources, sometimes single-handedly, are providing.”
People will die for that Nobel Prize. The Times of London:
Hundreds of Afghan civilians who worked as informants for the U.S. military have been put at risk by WikiLeaks’ publication of more than 90,000 classified intelligence reports which name and in many cases locate the individuals, The Times newspaper reported Wednesday….
The article says, in spite of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange’s claim that sensitive information had been removed from the leaked documents, that reporters scanning the reports for just a couple hours found hundreds of Afghan names mentioned as aiding the U.S.-led war effort.

That's the same thing that happened in South Vietnam. Millions of people who aided the US and South Vietnam efforts were killed by the Communists who won on because of the efforts of the leftist war protesters like John Kerry, Walter Cronkite and thousands more. American leftists do not care rather the people whose death they cause are Americans or aiding the Americans as long as they can get them killed.
The comments by Greenwald's pathetic worshipers make me want to retch. "I worship Assange" as a god? Seriously?
Assange deserves no peace prize – his handiwork will only bring about more death and destruction.
One day one of these leakers will come face to face with someone who lost a comrade, friend or relative because of their leak and on that day the circle of karma will begin to take its toll. There maybe just be words exchanged and/or some bloodshed and blows but on that day the leaker will finally have to confront the consequences of his actions.
Assange's next hack project? Let me guess… the US Federal Witness Protection Program.
And……who leaked this? That person, along with this Assange character, has no care for Americans', Afghans', or anyone else's lives – he sits at the top of his ivory tower and claims his "noble mission" is worth it all.
Tell that to the Afghans who are about to be captured, tortured, and murdered – along with their families. All for the "crime" of helping their country be free from oppressive, cruel tyrants. The blood of these victims of this "noble task" drips from Assage's and the leaker's hands.
"But they're just little brown people."
That's a quote from a GreenWacko, testifying before Congress on the possibility that banning DDT would re-inflate death numbers from mosquito-borne diseases in SE Asia.
(You can find the quote and the name of the GreenWacko in the book "Toxic Terror" by Eliz. Whelan, Ph.D.)
Nothing changes, eh?
Wow, thats the first time I have been censored on a conservative blog. I am usually censored on liberal blogs all the time..
Thought the conservatives were the ones who could handle facts and debate…
Guess transparent debate, or facts that are little uncomfortabel to discuss not welcome at 'legal insurrection'…
Wow.. I am amazed.. anyway…
Shall know to filter what I read here through that prism… the blogger ain't too hot on debate or facts.. just aye-sayers..
I draw your attention to this:
http://combat-skyspot.tripod.com/OL25.htm
which briefly describes the misuse of security classifications that arguably led to the slaughter of thousands of civilians (see the cited Shawcross scribbing, "Sideshow" for more on that).
I was there. Target data were falsified; the false data was classified 'Top Secret' and stamped for declassification no sooner than 30 years after the date of the mission(s). That sure helped on the statute of limitations for at least some of these 'national security issues'. I could write a book, but Shawcross has already done an admirable job of that.
The whole point of this nonsense was to hide the operation from the Congress, We the People, and the press. After all, you can't have a free press reporting on the underhanded sleaze being committed by our lunatic president and his National Security Advisor, can you.
The security classification system can be used to cover a multitude of sins and crimes.
On the one hand you have one or more people committing crimes by leaking this stuff. There is a system in place to deal with that. On the other hand you have an opportunity to examine what the government is classifying 'in the interest of national security', and see if that's really valid.
Before everyone jumps on that 'people will die' super-patriot bandwagon, why not take a look at what the gummint is really doing?
Sometimes the stench of the rotting corpses leaks through the smell of the ink used to stamp the documents.
