Good for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, which leads the way in supporting breast cancer awareness and research.
In a statement just released, the Komen Foundation refuses to cave in to the despicable attempt by Jane Hamsher and some of her followers to force the Komen Foundation to end its relationship with Hadassah Lieberman under threat that Hamsher’s friends in the blogosphere would stop donating to the Komen Foundation.
Here is the Komen Foundation statement:
Hadassah Lieberman is an important and valued Global Ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. As a Global Ambassador, Ms. Lieberman is focused on helping us reach out and educate women outside our borders about breast cancer, sharing our knowledge and experience in a culturally sensitive way that is making a real impact on the lives of women across the globe. We have every intention of continuing our relationship with Ms. Lieberman in our mutual pursuit of a world without breast cancer.
I think it’s time for a Buy-cott of the Komen Foundation, a worthy cause even without the boycott nonsense.
You can donate to the Komen Foundation here. You also can donate in honor of someone, here. How about a donation in honor of Hadassah Lieberman — I just did it, and so should you.

Please note that the Komen Foundation endorses embryonic stem cell research, and has a policy of permitting local affiliates to help fund abortion providers that happen to offer breast health care services.
Great idea.
I will follow your example.
Thanks for the heads up!
Lieberman seems to be caving, so the left will be calling the dogs off anyway.
I will be making a sizable contribution in Hadassah's honor. Thanks for the suggestion.
Whew! That's a relief! That's one of the very few charitable organizations left that I still contribute to regularly. Easily the most worthy health-based charity. It would be a crime to have cynical politics lay them to waste. Breast cancer is a cruel plague. We all know someone who has been stricken.
No thanks. Komen also supports Planned Parenthood.
I was just going to post the same thing that Roger H. and David D. posted. I know for a fact that Komen supports abortion. Being pro-life, I was devastated to find this out after I had participated in a fund-raising march for Komen in Washington D.C. several years ago. It pays to do research before supporting ANY charity these days. The following is a link to several blog posts that I have done on this issue:
Talk Wisdom: Susan Komen
Thank you Roger, David, Christinewjc, you saved me some research time. Komen keeping the faith with Hadassah while supporting abortion which may have something to do with increased breast cancer rates among young women is hardly worth supporting. But still it's good to know Komen isn't too, too radical.
Save your sympathy for this rich shill for the drug and insurance companies which are making huge profits while women die. That working-class women are being tapped to help pay Lieberman's salary as an "ambassador", read, highly paid monkey, is a disgrace in the first place.
Breast cancer and all health care is political, which you should realize unless you have been on the moon lately.
I am sure that many women contributing to this foundation do not know that there are highly-paid "ambassadors" like Lieberman, and that the foundation also supports abortion rights.
I do not support the SGK foundation…for the anti-life reasons quoted above. I do not "buy pink". There are other groups more worthy of my money. It is nice that they didn't throw Mrs. Lieberman under the bus, but they will not get my support.
We do not always get our meals with all our favorite foods; I made a small donation, for not tossing this woman under their bus.
However, I do thank those of you who shared with us that this group funds abortions; I will make no more contributions.
