Today I read in the Journal that Subway has surpassed McDonalds in number of locations worldwide. The Journal article cited the unusual location of some Subway restaurants and left the analysis for the growth of the chain rather open-ended. Perhaps, though, the growth of the chain in the past five years...

Christopher Hitchens has really been phenomenal in the past few weeks. In his Vanity Fair April article, he does not disappoint. He mulls over all the revolutions he has seen, and concludes that Egypt is not as poignant as it seems:
Neither in exile nor in the country itself is there anybody...

My friend, Steven Samols, is studying abroad in Berlin. Though I attended the same program in the fall of ’09, Steven has learnt from my mistakes and has been graciously keeping his observations written down. This small passage reminds me that the Berlin subway system (U-Bahn) is one of the more...

Bill Maher ’78, the most deranged and arrogant Cornell alum on the air by default since Olbermann was pulled, managed to make a news story into an insult about Sarah Palin for the millionth time.
[On Charlie Sheen] “So yes, it’s childish, it’s needlessly defensive, it makes no sense. So if...

Africa is rich in natural resources yet it is rarely Africans (save some corrupt officials) who get rich off...

Welcome to the fantasy land of the Obama administration:
Senate Budget Committee ranking member Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.) took Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood to task Thursday for the Obama administration’s call for a massive increase in transportation spending.
Given the record deficit this year, Sessions said he was surprised to see Obama’s 2012...

The Daily Caller has an absolutely hilarious article (which I hope will become a series) titled ‘Congressional Bosses from Hell’ starring Sheila Jackson Lee. There are some real gems in this one:

Yet another staffer remembers requesting a meeting early on in her tenure to ask how best to serve the congresswoman....

Recently, Charlie Sheen has been in the news acting erratic. Thankfully, he hasn’t been elected to office yet, (though I’m sure more Americans know him than the Speaker of the House) so maybe it could be worse….

A recent Guardian online quiz, though, shows the incredibly blurry line between the crazy Sheen...

Christopher Hitchens has been on fire recently. First, he thoroughly excavated the falsifications in The King’s Speech (and went on to defend his criticism) and now he has called out President Obama’s inaction with his signature acerbic wit, asking if he is really Swiss.

The Obama administration also behaves as if the...
