‘You Better Get Ready for … War’: Socialists Convene to Plan Next Phase of Revolution

Radical activists and organizers from across the U.S. and around the world descended on Chicago over Labor Day weekend to attend the Socialism 2026 Conference. The four-day summit was touted as a “place for both seasoned radicals and new activists to sharpen analysis, hone strategy, and build community.” Its more than 100 workshops included a Marxism Education Series, along with sessions bearing titles such as “Confronting Zionism: Decolonizing Palestine and Building the World Anew” and “Trans Care in the Age of Health Fascism.”
But the conference’s central purpose was unmistakable: to chart the socialist movement’s next steps in its pursuit of power — and prepare a new generation of revolutionaries for battle.
Perhaps the weekend’s most memorable remarks came from University of California, Santa Barbara, professor Butch Ware, who told attendees that the Democratic establishment “must be destroyed” and warned they must get ready for “war in the streets.”
For Ware, New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed are not radical enough:
We have a tremendous opportunity. But they [the Democratic establishment] are going to keep giving us the Mamdanis and the Abdul El-Sayeds — and in my generation, the Obamas — because they are there to contain radicalism. They are there to destroy it and to diffuse it and to co-opt it and to purchase it.
Despite the false bravado of Democratic leaders such as Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries who persist in peddling the fiction of the party’s “big tent,” Ware was very clear: “The Democrats cannot be reasoned with. They must be destroyed.”
The audience loved it.

During a Saturday interview with Newsmax, former White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley discussed what may have drawn so many young voters to the Marxist conference. He noted that the socialist message resonates particularly strongly with those “who are carrying college debt and squeezed out of housing.”
In Gidley’s telling, young socialists have been sold the idea that prosperity should be theirs immediately, without the years of sacrifice traditionally required to attain it:
You should be able to afford a penthouse in Manhattan. And because you can’t, it must be because of the man.
Instead of saying, ‘Hey, pay your dues, stay with roommates, live, scrape, claw, work to get where you are.’ No, you should be given that on day one.
Democrats have done an outstanding job selling this lie to so many young people in this country.
Young voters, he added, are largely “ignorant” of Marxism’s history and consequences. They simply “don’t know any better.”
Whatever appeal socialism may hold for disaffected young Americans, the rhetoric coming out of Chicago should not be dismissed as youthful idealism. A conference billed as a forum for sharpening strategy and building a movement featured prominent speakers calling for the destruction of the Democratic establishment, preparation for “war in the streets,” and the end of capitalism. When self-described revolutionaries tell the public exactly what they intend to do, it would be foolish not to take them seriously.

Your problem is that people like you don’t create large mobs that can go on a rampage and kill and destroy. We are not organized and have no leaders. If the DoJ was doing their job, people like this would be arrested.
Can be mitigated by relocation to an area of more like minded folks that is at least an hour, preferably further, from any large population center. Helps to have bridges in between which could if absolutely necessary be ‘dropped’ to impede travel. Locate a place with a well, enough room for a garden, a smallish orchard, a stocked pond. Maybe get some chickens and goats. Perhaps a rabbit hutch. Add some stand off distance and limited avenues of approach to reach your little refuge and you’ve more/less mitigated the risk of the ‘golden horde’ spilling out of the city. By the time they reach you their numbers will have been significantly thinned out and much easier to resist, particularly if a group of like minded folks chooses to vigorously contest their passage at choke points/obstacles some distance from their homes.

Lots of similar places exist all over the place. Take a map and figure 90 minute drive around each city in your State/region. Whenever the rings don’t meet that’s a possibility. Then look for rainfall or water and a climate you can accept. Personally I despise the cold so Montana or N Dakota is not gonna work for me. Others may have the same bias against humidity so the deep South ain’t a viable option for them.
A little research online and you can find a suitable rural property to buy or build your home. The problem most people have is …its gonna be out ‘in the boonies’ preferably a few miles down dirt roads to get to it. A place where nobody from outside the community would even know to look for you. IOW isolated with few neighbors and those distant. My own nearest neighbors are both about 2/3 of mile away and beyond our little cluster the next is 3.5 miles west and 2.5 miles east. North and south is timberland for many miles with lots.of.creeks flowing towards a river to the west and both kinda swampy in places so no roads. Some would find it unappealing. I love the quiet and the the deer, ducks, herons, egrets, turkey visiting my ponds. Not so much the occasional gater.

Dark? There’s some very serviceable Night Vision optics commercially available at very reasonable prices. Less than $4k ea. 1st/2nd gen cheaper than that. Even without them a 15 acre property offers plenty of stand off distance. Position the home a minimum 100-125 yards off the road. Keep trees from roadway extending 30-50 yards towards the dwelling. You’ve just made it much more difficult to do a ‘drive by’. Hard to see, hard to aim hard to hit with any accuracy at a point target and not much better for an area target …at least for goons we’re talking about. Nobody is gonna prevent the D Boys so lets get that sort of thing out of mind. The goal is to mitigate efforts by largely untrained/disorganized goons more comfortable on city streets than out in the rural/county areas.
Dig a pair of multi acre ponds in a curving quarter moon shape in front of dwelling extending to each side of the dwelling to create a barrier and limit avenues of approach. Put a causeway across the ponds to serve as driveway. Put a basic cattle guard on each end of the causeway so you can raise and lock the grate into place. Youve eleminated vehecle access on three sides. Put a basic 4 strand bar wire fence surrounding the property. Place some solar motion lights at the driveway and at any obvious positions at edge of wood line for some one to try and snipe at your home. Use natural vegetation and trees maybe a small ditch/berm along the rear of the property to force a dismount.
That’s just normal stuff for normal times. In abnormal times lots of enhancements could be added that are of questionable legality
Tough to ‘follow’ someone if they stay in a rural and somewhat remote area. Places where every passing vehicle is known to a particular schedule and driver and any unfamiliar vehicle is noted and watched by every neighbor.
Of course they gotta find the dirt road first to get to the sort of places we’re discussing. That’s after they get well off interstates and US Hwy and travel down a State road then a mere county road to get within five miles of that dirt road.
Even then they gotta be able to get all the way out of the familiar city/suburbs out into unfamiliar countryside and if there’s some bridges and natural choke points then drop the bridges. Down a half dozen trees on either side of the road every few miles to create an abitas. Pick one at random each day to overwatch with a couple folks with scoped hunting rifles to discourage any attempts to move the big ol tangle of trees blocking access.
This is pretty basic stuff that most combat Veterans could come up with a little thought.
The bad news is that the civil war they want is imminent. The good news is that it will be over in 15 minutes. About half-way through the process the smart ones who are still breathing will realize that it was actually the presence of the po po which kept them alive for that long. As the guy who was fishing said to his buddy in the Far Side cartoon with the mushroom cloud off in the distance, “I’ll tell you what this means Norm: no limits.”
Define ‘over’ Do the lefty radicals get to decide its over just b/c they call time out? At least some disagreeable folks will use the cover of civil unrest/conflict to settle old scores. Once that sort of old school feuding starts it is hard to end. Then there’s problem of decentralised actions by ad hoc locals responding to violence by radical goons, there’s not a central authority to accept a ‘surrender’ by the radicals much less to order a halt to their actions. The radicals may begin to perceive in 15 minutes how bad they messed up …but it might take 15 days or more to drive home the lesson and eliminate any remaining problems.
These cowards won’t fight anyone. They’ll plant bombs in public places killing innocent women and children.
