Virginia School District: ‘Don’t Associate the 9/11 Attacks With Islam or Muslims’
“The guide also tells educators that if they hear students or colleagues using ‘Islamophobic rhetoric,’ ‘it is up to you to disrupt.'”
To the shock of no one, Fairfax County in Virginia, located five miles from the Pentagon, has awful 9/11 25th anniversary school lessons.
The county encouraged teachers not to link 9/11 to Islam or Muslims and to use content to create “safe spaces for Muslim and Middle Eastern students.”
Fairfax County’s new 9/11 teaching guide devotes roughly half its content to creating “safe spaces for Muslim and Middle Eastern students.” while mentioning military families just three times and first responders once.
The six-page document, obtained by Fox News Digital’s @AsraNomani, contains 30 references to Islam, “anti-Muslim racism,” and “Islamophobic rhetoric.” It explicitly tells teachers not to “associate the 9/11 attacks with Islam or Muslims” and not to “center the extremists or the acts of the extremists.” Only about 15% of the guide actually spells out specific 9/11 instruction.
Retired Vice Admiral Lou Crenshaw, who was inside the Pentagon when al-Qaeda terrorists flew a plane into the building, ripped the guide for failing to convey “the evilness of what actually happened,” calling it a sanitized, “vanilla” approach that shaves the facts until students can’t figure out what they’re learning about.

The guide includes a “Do” and “Don’t” list for teachers. Among the don’ts: don’t “associate the 9/11 attacks with Islam or Muslims.” Don’t “center the extremists or the acts of the extremists.” pic.twitter.com/RsinYXRQlG

Teachers are told to “intentionally include Muslim Americans among the heroes, helpers, and victims” and to “intentionally disrupt the implicit associations between ‘Muslim,’ ‘outsider’ and ‘terrorist’ in our national discourse.”
The guide also tells educators that if they hear students or colleagues using “Islamophobic rhetoric,” “it is up to you to disrupt.”

“Islamophobic rhetoric.” What qualifies as “Islamophobic rhetoric?” I’m not surprised the directions didn’t specify the rhetoric or provide examples. It makes it easier for anyone to consider anything “Islamophobic.”
Also, what about the victims? What about the families who lost loved ones? What about the first responders?
The Fairfax County Public Schools statement to Fox News completely contradicts the lesson:
In a statement provided to Fox News Digital, Fairfax County Public Schools said the school community has a “deeply personal connection to September 11 because of our proximity to the Pentagon and the many military-connected families we serve.
“On the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, we remember the nearly 3,000 people who were killed, including 184 at the Pentagon. We remember the victims, their families, the survivors, and everyone whose lives were forever changed. We honor the first responders whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us,” the school district said.
“FCPS remains committed to creating an inclusive environment in our schools where all students feel welcome and respected as we strive to provide a world-class education and workplace.”
Well, Muslims should stop attacking America. My family is German and Italian. Lessons on WWI and WWII don’t make me uncomfortable, and I don’t expect any school to water down those lessons.
It is what it is. Muslims flew planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Muslims would have flown a fourth plane into something else, but those passengers stopped them.

They have tens of thousands of Muslims living there
Total BS
We didn’t do this for the Japanese or the Germans
Rise up against islam
That’s because we still believed in ourselves at that time.
Fairfax Cty, VA., is enemy occupied territory.

9/11 is all about islam and muslims – f’g morons.
Does anybody know any “Muslim Americans among the heroes, helpers, and victims” and which of the 400 first responders who died that day are mentioned? Answer me that, Fairfax Schools.
Well, they danced around a lot on the street, like our “nurse heroes” did during COVID, so apparently that’s helping in some manner.
The new “25th Anniversary and Commemoration of 9/11” teaching guide for Fairfax County Public Schools was developed under the direction of the Fairfax County School Board, with curriculum recommendations endorsed by school board member Abrar Omeish and implemented in line with FCPS’s senior leadership team. Abrar Omeish is Libyan.
FCPS Senior Leadership Team—including Superintendent Dr. Michelle C. Reid and other chief officers—oversaw the development and distribution of such instructional materials.
What an excellent plan for conquest. Make sure there are females in top government positions, so they will lie back and spread ’em for th infiltrators below them.
Stop “linking Muslims or Islam to 9/11”?
Sure…. about the same time Muslims stop linking Christianity to The Crusades.
Which, BTW, started out as a response to Muslim conquest.
The only reason the terrorists did it is because of their religion where Bin Laden assured they would be in paradise with 72 virgins.
“Muslims would have flown a fourth plane into something else, but those passengers stopped them.”
How ironic would it be if they had intended to target the Fairfax County Government Office Complex?
4th planes was supposed to target white house if i’m recalling correctly.
Somebody should.
To be fair appending ‘extremist’ Muslim seems like a fair compromise. So instead of just ‘Muslims’ phrase it as ’19 Muslim extremists plotted and carried out attacks on 9/11 murdering nearly 3,000 people directly with several thousand more deaths attributable to it’.
Better yet, also add their Nation of origin to it (15 Saudis, 2 UAE, 1 Egyptian, 1 Lebanese) as well as pointing out the warped death cult philosophy of the attackers (and their enablers) which casts the USA and Israel as particular ‘evils’ in their eyes and thus especially worthy of destruction/death … even ordinary Citizens whose only ‘crime’ was to exist.
That way we cover all the bases from the ‘extremists’ who carried out the attacks while also including the more ‘moderate’ Muslims who ‘merely’ share some or all of the philosophy of their extremist co-religionists as well as dropping some much needed reminders of the Nations of origin of the attackers where their vile philosophy was allowed/enabled to fester/grow out of toleration at best and genuine agreement at worst.
“That way we cover all the bases from the ‘extremists’ who carried out the attacks while also including the more ‘moderate’ Muslims who ‘merely’ share some or all of the philosophy of their extremist co-religionists”
Muslims are a lot like Democrats. They’re a big tent group. All are welcome, none are excluded. You can’t tell which is which by what they say, because it all depends on what day they said it and who they were talking to.
Yes indeed. Its a bad faith argument to complain about scapegoating b/c ‘you’ didn’t do x and that X was done by others when simultaneously ‘you’ fail to acknowledge that ‘you’ and the others share the same philosophical outlook, have an indistinguishable worldview and most importantly ‘you’ are were quite capable of identifying those ‘others’ but instead enabled them by keeping silent or worse actively supported them.
And yet when (say) a Christian says or does something nefarious, then the same people who howl about “Islamophobia” then paint all Christians with a brush so broad its width can be measured in light years.
Yes and it is unfair. It is always unfair to scapegoat someone outside the community of the extremist actor who didn’t interact with them, didn’t have influence on them and didn’t support the same warped philosophy, beliefs as that individual simply based upon shared broad religious identification alone.
That holds for every religion including Islam.
However within most other major religions we see a bifurcation of the extremist and mainstream adherents. The same isn’t necessarily true for Islam, especially where we seek to find staunch, irrefutable, unwavering public denunciation of the warped philosophy/twisted theology of the extremist by the mainstream adherents. Batcrap Crazy dude claiming to be a ‘Christian’, ‘Jewish’, ‘Hindu’ or whatever is very often ostracized by the other adherents and driven out of their circle b/c the rest see him as twisting their religious traditions into something else entirely as a justification for their Cray Cray acts/beliefs.
IOW when some whacko calls himself a (insert religious affiliation) then makes Cray Cray statements or performs Cray Cray acts we should see the members of that broad religious affiliation denounce it AS Cray Cray, twisted/false theology. If we don’t see it then we’re left to infer agreement. For that matter the toleration of those with Cray Cray views within society and refusal to ostracize them also indicates agreement or at least sympathy for the Cray Cray views. Unfortunately this doesn’t occur nearly so often with Muslims. Instead we often see horrific actions cheered by the great mass of Muslims.
“Extremist” Muslims being those Muslims willing to act on the hate their ideology/theology teaches them, while the remaining 95% believe what they’ve been taught and support the extremists 100%.
Very often yes and it is IMO very important to note the Nationality of the 9/11 attackers for this reason. The culture of their Nations and the particular religious and/or theological beliefs as widely practiced absolutely shaped the motive of the 9/11 attackers. IOW the gov’t and the people of those Nations at best tolerated and incubated the ideology of the attackers and at worst supported and enabled them.
Quick spin thru net/google indicates FFX county pop in 1980 over 85 %white & 47 % white 2020 .. Kinda says it all espesh under 40% could be – right now.
To paraphrase the excellent summation of Mohammedism written by Winston Churchill over 125 years ago, those men are but rabid dogs. Humanity is much the better that they are dead. It is tragic that they took 3,000 innocents with them. If “Islamophobia” means that I have observed Muslims and found them revolting in word and deed then all I have to say to the accusers is 🖕.
Islam deserves the ridicule, scorn and contempt it has earned. Sooner or later, modern humans are going to have to take care of this problem because there is no appetite to do so today.
RIP to those who were ripped from us so violently a quarter century ago. We should have done better then and there’s no excuse for what we’re doing today.
The first step in solving any problem is determining the cause.
The first step in solving any problem is recognizing that there is a problem and then identifying the actual problem.
How many non-Muslims were there among the 9/11 hijackers?
Teaching fake history is largely how we got into this mess. 9-11 is all about Islam.
School District: Do not to associate the 9/11 attacks with Islam or Muslims
School teachers: Well, what can we say then?
School District: Somebody did something.
That would be more than they want to say. More likely to say some planes flew into some buildings. If you say somebody then you might have to say who.
School teacher: 9/11 was very bad. Lots of people were killed.
Little Johnny: Who killed them?
School teacher: I cannot say
Little Johnny (thinking to himself): I know who did it
Little Muhammud (giggling): So do I. Ha ha ha.
Lawrence Wright’s 2007 narrative on the attack, “The Looming Tower: Al-Qaeda and the Road to 9/11” and other solid accounts should be cracked open by the school. The author does pinpoint and discuss the development of the strain of Islam that motivated Osama bin Laden to plan this attack. I think that President Bush did us a disservice by calling this a war on terrorism. Terrorism is a technique and not an ideology. Identifying the technique does little but identifying the ideology is very helpful in crafting a strategic response targeting the specific groups of people. President Obama, even more so, demurred on calling out the poisonous ideology that we were fighting. The poisonous ideology is evident in several virulent strains of Islam. Bush should have called this a war against Islamic extremistism or the particular set of violent Islamic, anti-Western ideologies.
You lost me when you started talking about extremism. Look virtually all muslims want to live in a muslim theocracy. That includes those that want to achieve now through the sword and those who are patient and will wait for 100 years to achieve it through the ballot box. The former is easier to identify and theoretically deal with, The latter is invisible and uses our own system against us. Both are threats, Both are completely intolerant to other ways of life. Which is extreme? I say both are,
Islam is incompatible with western values which are predicated on tolerating differences. Adherents of Islam should be barred from the west. They are free to live their own lives in their own countries unless they wish to impose their system on someone else. Then they need to be eradicated like cockroaches.
Bush and the democrats are appeasers and in many cases enablers. They are essentially enemies of the west as much as muslims are. They should be treated as such.
“I think that President Bush did us a disservice by calling this a war on terrorism.”
Bush did us a lot of disservices.
“add their Nation of origin to it (15 Saudis, 2 UAE, 1 Egyptian, 1 Lebanese)”
As the result of which, Bush selected Iraq to invade, because:
a. All them Ay-rabs look the same;
b. Saddam had some yellowcake unobtainium;
c. Saddam threw some imaginary babies out of some fictional incubators;
d. W was determined to settle a grudge that his daddy was never allowed to.
E none of the above. Though d has far more validity than the rest.
The problem with Iraq was always what to do after ‘regime change’. Why? Iran. A weakened Iraq strengthens Iran, at least on a relative basis. That is undesirable. So is open conflict with Iran at least the kind we’re doing b/c its gonna impact oil/Nat gas/fertilizer prices which can upend the global economy if it goes on long enough. Even in short to medium term we see the impacts of our current conflict.
I spent 42 months cumulatively in Iraq and IMO it was largely a flipping waste of US blood and treasure. We had the insurgency kicked down in 08 and practically routed by ’11. Then largely for political reasons both domestic and international we gave away our victory.
These refusal by our leadership of both parties to be ruthless when using force is gonna prolong our conflicts. IMO we should have told the Iranian expat community and our regional ‘partners’ along with Europe to STFU then blown up the infrastructure of Iran. Stoke and support a civil way with Iran. Destroy the port facilities to ship oil/gas.
Yes that would have big consequences. Higher oil/Nat gas prices for a prolonged period, particularly in Asia which is mostly where ME oil/gas is consumed.. Creation of a refugee crisis with folks running to neighboring Nations and probably Europe. Almost certainly riots in European cities with large ‘migrant’ populations. Maybe in the USA as well. Our so called middle east ‘partners’ would be PO about the unrest and refugees. Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Australia, NZ would all be PO about spike in oil/gas prices. African Nations PO about fertilizer costs. Combined with existing interruption/scarcity in oil/gas/fertilizer from Russia v Ukraine the chance of real food/energy crisis in poorer Nations unable to buy in replacement and kicking off another set of refugee crisis was more likely.
The key takeaway for me is go big or stay home. Use enough force to shatter the opposing Nations will to fight and intentionally create enough widespread death and destruction to serve as a viable deterrent to other Nations considering PO the USA. If we ain’t gonna do that then we should probably stay home and stop spending US blood and treasure fruitlessly.
Religion is associated with every one of the following. Please identify which one we are not supposed to identify:
a. The Spanish Inquisition
b. St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre
c. The Crusades
d. The Salem witch trials
e. The Jonestown Massacre
f. The 9/11 Terror Attacks
Identify all and learn from it. I am not aware that anyone has ever suggested not identifying a-e with the causes. Only f seems to be immune.
Why is that?
a. The Spanish Inquisition -Catholics
b. St. Bartholomew’s Day Massacre -Catholics
c. The Crusades -Catholics
d. The Salem witch trials -Puritans
e. The Jonestown Massacre -The Peoples Temple Christian-Socialist
f. The 9/11 Terror Attacks -Islam
How did I do?
Very good. You must be old school.
You left out the religion of secularism, which was associated with Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot, Castro, and many other vicious murderers.
We should probably split the ‘Crusades into 3 parts.
1. popular history image crusades of the ‘good Christians’ seeking to drive the ‘bad Muslims’ out of the holy land
2. ‘Side quest crusades’ in Europe v Cathars and in Livonia
3. largely unmentioned crusade when Roman Church backed Crusaders sacked Orthodox Church backed Constantinople for some Christian on Christian violence
Maybe a fourth set of mini crusades of the Italian City States sponsored to some degree by the Papacy supporting the remnants of Christian (Orthodox) Byzantine possessions v Turks in an on again/off again manner that was more about internal European possessions, relative balance of power and access to eastern markets.
Otherwise a pretty dang good list. Especially if we add gibbie’s suggestion of secularism to the mix which has by far the largest body count.
In another 25 years they will be blaming “white nationalism”. Assuming they bother to remember 9/11 at all.
The only “safe space” for an Islamist is six feet under ground..
The Cult of Contrived/Fallacious Islamo-victimology and victimhood mythologies/propaganda must be destroyed, utterly.
Muslims are not historical or contemporary victims, at all. It’s offensive and dishonest to posit this.
All of the assorted victimhood rhetoric, propaganda agitprop and related histrionics surrounding the Cult of Islamo-victimology are intended to unburden Muslims of taking responsibility for their wicked ideology’s intrinsic supremacism, totalitarianism, belligerence, pathologies, violence and innumerable crimes, conquests, murders and atrocities visited upon non-Muslim peoples and lands, worldwide, over their ideology’s blood-soaked, 1,400-plus-year history.
Teach the kids it was Mexicans. Let the school department correct you.
“The guide also tells educators that if they hear students or colleagues using ‘Islamophobic rhetoric,’ ‘it is up to you to disrupt.’”
So when you successfully sue the school AND the “educator” for violating your free speech rights, the “educator” can then turn on the school and sue them for telling him it was his duty to do it?
Based.
The distinguishing feature of government schools (read Marxist indoctrination centers) is a rabid, uncontrollable knee-jerk revulsion to and complete rejection of Reality.
Get your kids OUT of Government Schools NOW!
I am guessing CAIR was somehow involved.
WTF else are we supposed to associate the attacks with? Oh, right. The Muslim “victims” OVER THERE. Enough is enough.
Oh no no. Blame the airplanes.
Remembering the dry wit of Norm Macdonald…
“What terrifies me is if ISIS were to detonate a nuclear device and kill 50 million Americans. Imagine the backlash against peaceful Muslims?”
If the shoe fits, wear it and live with it.
Seems kinda judgey.
Wouldn’t the martyrs who cried “Allahu akbar!” while doing the deed want credit to their religion, and glory to their god?
I thought we were all multi-culturally sensitive these days. From their doctrine this was all to the good, n’est pas?
