The Other September 11: Remembering the Four Americans Killed in Benghazi
Don’t ever forget Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone “Rone” Woods, and Glen “Bub” Doherty.
Today is the 25th anniversary of 9/11, when terrorists crashed planes into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Passengers overtook the terrorists in a fourth plane and saved who knows how many people.
I understand why the news and others talk more about the 2001 attacks, especially this year since it’s the 25th anniversary.
September 11 has another anniversary: Benghazi.
Terrorists murdered four Americans 14 years ago today in Benghazi, Libya:
- Ambassador Christopher Stevens
- Sean Smith, an IT specialist
- Tyrone “Rone” Woods
- Glen “Bub” Doherty
On September 11, 2012, at 9:40 PM, terrorists launched an attack on the compound housing Ambassador Christopher Stevens in Benghazi, Libya.
“We are under attack.”
“If you guys don’t get out here, we’re all going to f—-ing die.”
Over the next 13 hours, these terrorists will kill four Americans and injure many more.
Kris Paronto said: “We were told to ‘stand down’. Those words were used verbatim—100 percent. If the truth of it affects someone’s political career? Well, I’m sorry. It happens.”
Unfortunately, by the time the men arrived at the compound, it was too late. No one could find Stevens. Smith was dead. The others had injuries.
The GRS team attempted to secure the compound as the injured made their way back to the annex.
The injured from the compound arrived at the annex after facing constant gunfire on the route.
The GRS team returned to the compound, ordering everyone to prepare for evacuation.
They set up shop on the rooftops knowing the terrorists would hit the CIA annex. They faced numerous attacks, trying to keep those in the building safe.
The movie showed a drone over the annex and compound, knowing officials had their eye on the whole thing.
No one answered their calls except Glen Doherty in Tripoli. He gathered a team, but faced delays getting out of the airport.
Doherty and his team finally landed at 1:00 AM. They helped the GRS team fend off more attacks.
But then it all went to hell at 4:00 AM when the terrorists attacked the annex with mortars.
They murdered Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty and injured many more.
A mortar nearly blew off Geist’s arm. He was also shot numerous times and had shrapnel all over his body.
A mortar took out a chunk of Dave Ubben’s arm and almost severed his leg.
Some help finally arrived, providing cover for the teams: 30 CIA agents and six State Department personnel to the airport.
The agents, personnel, and injured left.
The bodies of Stevens, Smith, Woods, and Doherty arrived at the Benina International Airport, where they were flown to Tripoli and then to Germany.
The fallen and the team returned to D.C.

DAY 9 – 1 of 4TYRONE “RONE” WOODS
I had never worked with Rone before this rotation.

DAY 9 – 3 of 4SEAN SMITH
Sean Smith is probably the man from Benghazi most people know the least about.
That needs to change.

AMBASSADOR CHRIS STEVENS
Chris Stevens knew Benghazi long before September 11, 2012.
He wasn’t some ambassador who showed up with no understanding of Libya or the risks.

The devil himself has been making significant upgrades down under to accommodate the hotter-than-the-center-of-the-sun temperatures necessary for the arrival of Hillary “What difference does it make!” Clinton and Barack “Fundamentally transform” Obama.
While neither will face judgment in this life, they’ll get exactly what they deserve in the next.
🔥🔥🔥 😱 🔥🔥🔥
It was my first thought,
“What difference does it make”
Hillary lost the Presidency right there.
The only good thing that happened because of 9/11
That used to be my first thought. But then there’s all the SOF guys who sprang into action.
That’s a better memory and the second best defense against treasonous leaders.
Ambassador Chris Stevens knew Hillary personally and personally asked for more security, several times….
But , what difference did that make?
The Benghazi debacle and cover-up by crones Clinton and Rice, and the vile Obama, himself, combined with the Obamacare passage debacle and associated high costs imposed on Americans, should have fairly put an end to Obama’s re-election prospects, and they would have, if the contemptible, water-carrying, Obama-worshiping leftist/Dhimmi-crat media had covered these fiascos resulting from extreme incompetence with the same attention and scrutiny they would have given them, had a Republican president been responsible for them.
Rejecting a rescue mission of an American ambassador and staff under fire, while deceitfully blaming a clear-cut terrorist attack on an obscure YouTube video that no Muslim in Libya had ever seen.
The Benghazi fiasco encapsulated the vile Obama’s and his wretched lackeys’ reflexive self-serving deceit and mendacity, in all things.
IMO the official public policy of the USA re a mob breaching the perimeter/entering our Embassy or Consulate much less murder of our diplomatic personnel should be very clear and very straightforward; we carpet bomb the City where it occurred. Then we bounce the rubble with fuel air bombs for a few days. Leave nothing standing and no one alive. Probably only have to do it a couple/three times until the lessen is driven home sufficient to deter even the most determined adversary.
I agree with that sentiment.
However the Soviets did that and still lost Afghanistan and ultimately collapsed
You’re gonna need to Identify the incident you claim to have occurred in which the Soviet Union carpet bombed a city following up with fuel air bombs ‘leaving nothing standing and no one alive’ in response to an attack on their Embassy/Consult or the killing of their Ambassador in Afghanistan.
So far as I know the only Ambassador of a major power killed in Afghanistan in the last 50 years was a US Ambassador occurring in early ’79 before the Soviet invasion/occupation when AMB Dubs was kidnapped and killed. That was more/less simultaneously with the attacks on the US Embassy Tehran.
Obama’s State Department under Hillary Clinton gun running from the port of Benghazi to arm the Syrian rebels.
Emblematical, as the news about this was popping that day, I came home to find my dog dying. Yellow lab, cancer had run its course. Spent the evening at the vet saying goodbye to my best friend of 12 years.
Thank God Hillary wasn’t there to desecrate the memory of my best friend too.
Thank you for remembering them. I haven’t seen this brought up elsewhere in yesterday’s news.
Hillary asks that we all forget about Benghazi. It’s annoying her.
Ah, I do so enjoy recalling the reporting at the time. None of that “Ambassador”, “Embassy”, “Insurgents / Terrorists / Militia”, or the rest. Nothing to see here. Now, I don’t want to get off on a rant here, but…
Offended by a video, beacuse we all know Lybian locals critique internet videos at embassys. I’ve wanted to respond with kinetic critique myself on occasion, but we don’t do that in our stifled society. They’re so much freer.
Also, not an “embassy”, but a consulate, er diplomatic office, er career-day vendor table. Nor an “ambassafor”, but “envoy”, er “agent”, er carbon based life form. Nor a CIA operation. Nothing to see here.
Now it’s accepted as common knowledge: that was ops base arms running into Syria. One wonders, did we off Gadaffi because he said “No”? Failed states are way better for arms running. Competing militias and a slave trade are small price to oay. It’s not like they vote for the party (back then, anyway.)
.”We came. We lied. He died.” Now noone will deal in return for protecton guarantees from us. I guess it’s only kinetic diplomacy at scale after that.
Oh, the outrage-y outrage at the time. Oh, wait…
The obfuscation fades after it’s done its job: Buy The Lightbringer wiggle room. And who says America doesn’t commit any more. “We came. We saw. He died.” Then +4 of our own. Over-achievers these folks.
*Even* the Orange Man Bad is less scary than these in charge of FBI, DHS, and the rest. They will do literally anything they think they can get away with, and they have friends who will help them get away with much.
