Texas A&M Cuts More Than 100 Classes, Many About Race, Gender, and Sexuality

“It is very clear to us that this is a political agenda here”

There is a lot of this going around right now.

KWKT News reports:

Texas A&M Cuts Over 100 Classes, Many Involving Race, Gender, and Sexuality

As required by new state law, Texas A&M reviewed the core curriculum they offered and cut out many classes which did not fit within the state’s guidelines.

According to SB 37, universities must review their core curriculum once every five years and eliminate courses that aren’t “foundational and fundamental to a sound postsecondary education,” or won’t “prepare students for participation in the workforce and in the betterment of society.”

Of the 102 classes removed from the Texas A&M core curriculum, many center around left-leaning topics such as race, gender, and sexuality. Some examples being Intro to Gender and Society, Blacks in the U.S. Since 1607-1877, Women Writers, LGBTQ Literatures, and Intercultural Communications. President of the Texas A&M American Association of University Professors, Dr. Leonard Bright, says the removal of these courses is politically motivated and not in the best interest of the students.

“It is very clear to us that this is a political agenda here,” said Dr. Bright. “Are they sure that they’re going to be prepared, you know, for this global world? I mean, we see, you know, America. America’s always been diverse.”

Dr. Bright testified during Thursday’s Board of Regents meeting in which the Board unanimously approved the new core curriculum. He claimed that Texas A&M is pushing a conservative agenda on their students.

“This is political interference in education. Texas A&M should no more produce conservative students than liberal students. Our job is not to manufacture a political worldview,” said Dr. Bright.

In response to Dr. Bright’s testimony, Texas A&M Board of Regents Chairman Bob Albritton says A&M isn’t pushing any agenda.

“He [Bright, ironic] claimed that Texas A&M is pushing a conservative agenda on their students. This is political interference in education.”
Pot, meet Kettle.

Bright is a fool if he thinks that Texas A&M was not pushing a political view with these courses. He knows that they represent the progressive or leftist view of the world. He does not deserve to teach at a normal university.

What did they keep that they shouldn’t have? What parts of the lefty agenda are hidden in seemingly innocuous courses like Intro to English or American History 101?

This is a nice step but it is NOT the whole war.

“Our job is not to manufacture a political worldview,” said Dr. Bright.
Then clearly you suck at your job.

Some of us remember when Texas A&M was a serious institution of higher education.
