The New York Times is controlled by the left. Of course they’re anti-Israel.

The Times of Israel reports:

Peer-reviewed journal publishes data study on NY Times bias against Israel in Gaza war coverage

A peer-reviewed academic journal publishes a data study that found a bias against Israel in The New York Times’s coverage of the Gaza war.

The study, by Edieal Pinker of the Yale school of management, says that the newspaper downplayed Israeli losses incurred after the October 2023 Hamas invasion of Israel and minimized the role of Palestinian violence in perpetuating the conflict.

The Times of Israel covered the study last year.

The study’s final version is published in the Studies in Conflict & Terrorism academic journal.

The study analyzed 1,559 articles about the conflict in The New York Times from the date of the Hamas-led onslaught that launched the war on October 7, 2023, through June 7, 2024.

The report argued that the coverage “assign[ed] near-exclusive agency and responsibility to Israel while diminishing Hamas’s role in sustaining the conflict.”

The coverage often omitted Israeli military losses, Hamas terrorist casualties and Palestinian violence after the October 7 attack, while often reporting on Palestinian suffering, the study said.

Israel was portrayed as the “sole aggressor” following the Hamas attack and “seemingly bears no costs from conducting the war except for a loss of international support and public sympathy,” while “Palestinians are portrayed as passive victims whose suffering grows daily as they are relentlessly attacked by the Israeli military,” the study says.

Pro-Israel activists have long accused the Times of being biased against Israel, while pro-Palestinian activists have often complained of what they perceive as a pro-Israel bias in the paper.

The New York Times said in response to the initial study that it “has covered this war with more rigor than virtually any other US news organization, reporting on the conflict from all angles.”

“Our editors make careful and deliberate choices about every story we publish to ensure our language, framing, prominence and tone remain true to our mission of independent journalism,” a spokesperson said. “We remain open to good-faith disagreement but will not change our coverage to buttress entrenched perspectives. Our commitment is to independent reporting that our readers can trust.”

“Our commitment is to independent reporting that our readers can trust”. Pure garbage as usual from the New York Times.

“Our editors make careful and deliberate choices”

Translation: The anti-Israel bias is entirely intentional.

“The New York Times said in response to the initial study that it “has covered this war with more rigor than virtually any other US news organization”

Really? Is that the bar you want to boast you have jumped?

Most ethical “Nigerian prince” on the Internet?

The New York Times said in response to the initial study that it “has covered this war with more rigor than virtually any other US news organization, reporting on the conflict from all angles.
Consider NYT coverage of the death of Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s leader for 3 decades.

NYT: Protesters Mourn Nasrallah’s Death Around the World

Mr. Nasrallah was opposed to Israel, which he called “the Zionist entity,” and maintained that there should be one Palestine with equality for Muslims, Jews and Christians.

Was this an accurate portrayal of Nasrallah’s views? Not at all.

Hassan Nasrallah: In His Own Words

Nasrallah and Jews
Within a month of Nasrallah’s taking over as leader, Hezbollah (with the help of Iranian intelligence) bombed the Israeli embassy in Buenos Aires, killing 29 and injuring over 200. The next attack perpetrated by Hezbollah—again with Iranian help—was the bombing of the Jewish community center in Buenos Aires, killing 86 and injuring over 200.
The widening arena of Hezbollah’s attacks stemmed from Nasrallah’s perception that Jews anywhere are legitimate targets. In fact, Nasarallah has said:

If they (Jews) all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide. (Daily Star, Oct. 23, 2002)

Shiite scholar Amal Saad-Ghorayeb analyzed the anti-Jewish roots of Hezbollah ideology in her book Hezbollah: Politics & Religion. In it, she quotes Hassan Nasrallah describing his antipathy toward Jews:

If we searched the entire world for a person more cowardly, despicable, weak and feeble in psyche, mind, ideology and religion, we would not find anyone like the Jew. Notice, I do not say the Israeli. (New Yorker, Oct. 6, 2002)

Nasrallah also incoroporates anti-Semitic rhetoric in speeches. For example, he has characterized Jews as the “grandsons of apes and pigs” and “Allah’s most cowardly and greedy creatures.” (MEMRI: Al- Manar, Feb. 3, 2006)
Despite his anti-Semitic invective, there are few references to this in the mainstream media.

The NYT informed us that Nasrallah wanted ” one Palestine with equality for Muslims, Jews and Christians. Equality? Nasrallah dixit: “If they (Jews) all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide.”

Rigorous, fair, comprehensive coverage from all angles? Not at all. Conclusion: the NYT is a despicable, lying propaganda sheet.
