Judge Refers Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner for Criminal Investigation
The judge said Krasner and another might have obstructed justice and possibly committed other crimes.
U.S. District Judge Paul S. Diamond Jr. requested a federal probe into Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner and a supervisor over their handling of a murder case.
Yes, George Soros poured money into Krasner’s campaign to help elect him.
Diamond said the men might have obstructed justice and possibly committed other crimes:
“Finally, I have also found that Mr. Krasner and Stiegler worked together to try to convince the Four to urge the Court to accept a false narrative,” wrote Diamond. “This might amount to criminal conspiracy.”
The issue centers around Krasner’s Conviction Integrity Unit over a case regarding Dennis Johnson wanting to overturn his 2009 second-degree murder conviction.
Diamond disqualified and recommended a criminal investigation into Krasner and Matthew Stiegler, Chief of the DA’s Office’s Conviction Integrity Unit.
“I have thus reluctantly concluded that Philadelphia’s highest law enforcement official and one of his top assistants may have violated the law,” added Diamond. “In these circumstances, with the issuance of this Memorandum, I refer the DAO [District Attorney’s Office], Mr. Krasner, and Stiegler to this District’s United States Attorney’s Office for investigation and other appropriate action.”
Disqualification means Krasner and Stiegler cannot work on the case.
Diamond discredited Stiegler’s testimony, finding it “often contradictory, evasive, or outright dishonest.”
Yikes.
Johnson has been seeking habeas relief since 2013. Habeas relief is “a legal procedure that allows people who have been detained by the government to challenge their detention in court.”
Diamond wrote (omitted citations):
On July 20, 2026, ADA [Katherine] Ernst and [Steven] Wildberger filed a Notice of Conflict, stating that the entire DAO had a conflict of interest in Johnson because the District Attorney received litigation advice from Stiegler, who—because he was more concerned with his professional reputation than Johnson’s merits—had a clear conflict of interest. Ernst and Wildberger further explained that Stiegler’s advice to Mr. Krasner “suggested conduct they view[ed] as inappropriate for the person litigating the merits of this habeas case.” Ernst and Wildberger further urged that the DAO was conflicted because Mr. Krasner had ordered Ernst and Wildberger to “litigate the case in a manner to ‘protect the office,’” and that this was “incompatible with their ethical obligations and the interests of the Commonwealth.” On July 23, 2026, in a filing authored by [newly assigned ADA Thomas] Gaeta and Mr. Krasner, the DAO urged that the Four were conflicted because they would become fact witnesses once the July 17 hearing resumed. The July 23 filing also stated that any conflict with which the Four were burdened had been eliminated by Mr. Krasner’s hiring of Missouri attorney Jean Peters-Baker whom he had specifically hired as an ADA and assigned to Johnson.
“It appears that in attempting to impede the Court’s hearing and inquiry into the DAO’s conduct in Johnson, Mr. Krasner, aided by Stiegler, put the Law Division supervisors in an impossible situation that might jeopardize them professionally and may have violated the law,” wrote Diamond. “Mr. Krasner and Stiegler have thus created a basis for their disqualification from Johnson and their referral to the Department of Justice.”

Can someone explain this in a non legal way for those of us who don’t understand legal jargon?
What exactly did they do?
Read the brief, It’s actually pretty straightforward for a legal document, just skip over the (per XXX) citations.
Basically, Stiegler was a leftist advocate that tried to order them to just concede in court without any investigation and let a convicted murderer go free, then tried to lie about whether an investigation took place, or who told them not to investigate.
The Innocence Project Sigh. Another org in practice working at odds with the mission advertised. I would otherwise agree with.
ACLU became “American Social Justice League — ASJL” talking about imposed just outcomes vs. leaving people alone. They’re wound up about ICE because of who’s getting clipped, not whether and how it’s being done.
EFF, became digital soverignty window dressing vs. making TOR browser, and keychain LEDs that show the serial # encoding on home printed pages. They used to fund themselves selling stickers reading: “I do not consent to the search of this device.” to put on your data gizmos. Now, they’re politely standing by the “age verifiction” mandates, vs screaming bloody murder about ownership, autonomy, surveillance.
Don’t get me started on the others: “They were false-flag from the beginning.” (Apologies to our local fallen star.)
A murderer has been trying for years to get a new trial, claiming various things. Krasner and Stiegler have been colluding with the Innocence Project and other left-wing “spring the prisoners” organizations to get these cases expedited and the “innocent” prisoners released.
The murderer filed yet another petition, and at Stiegler’s orders a newbie lawyer drafted and submitted a brief conceding that the murderer was right, and he deserves a new trial. Neither she nor anyone at the DA’s office did any investigation whatsoever, they just took the prisoner’s counsel’s word for everything. Then some people at the DA’s office panicked and informed the judge that the whole thing was a setup. He held a hearing, at which Krasner and Stiegler perjured themselves.
“Krasner and Stiegler have been colluding with the Innocence Project and other left-wing “spring the prisoners” organizations to get these cases expedited and the “innocent” prisoners released.”
Well said.
Similar collusions have been taking place for years in criminal and fake environmental cases. Hopefully, this opens the door to mare such prosecutions – or, at the very least, make some of the bad actors worry about getting caught.
more of this.
I prefer Paul Krasner. At least Grump Magazine had some amusement value.
They lied to the court. That’s why the referral to the DOJ. The judge wants a pound of flesh. Conviction equals disbarment.
That seems fairly rare in today’s world.
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and predict that absolutely nothing will come from this
Why on earth would you predict that? The judge just gave the Attorney General a golden opportunity to put Krasner out of business, and possibly in prison, and you think he won’t jump on it?!
The recurring pattern is exactly has he pointed out. It’ll be a slap on the wrist and no real punishment. No reason to believe otherwise
Philadelphia jury pool. Conviction seems unlikely unless prosecutors get very lucky during jury selection.
The jury pool will be from the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, not just Philadelphia. The trial could be in Philadelphia, Allentown, Reading, or Easton.
Just like we jumped on Tish James’s mortgages, Hunter Biden’s illegal gun, Hillary’s classified data repository, Cuomo’s molestations, and Comey’s perjuries.
Truth! Justice! In the American Way!
Krasner is yet another first rate ahole. I don’t care if nothing happens. Make him sweat. Make him bleed. Make him worry. Break down his door at 3am and toss his panty drawer. Make his life even more miserable than it surely must be. The process is the punishment.
“Break down his door at 3am and toss his panty drawer.”
I do believe someone needs to mandate a seminar to teach Republicans how to do this. It is just not in their professional toolset, whereas Democrats do this all the time. No wonder Republicans have a hard time holding office, they don’t understand half the tools in their bag.
I doubt the Judicial system will bag him, I hope but not holding my breath.
A Soros-installed/funded, Dhimmi-crat D.A., brazenly committing crimes and gross violations of legal/prosecutorial ethics.
Shocker!
They have already succeeded in getting >100 murderers released.
Seems, if the DA and the convict’s attorney both agree on whatever nonsense is presented to the court, virtually every judge will simply release a murderer.
The State Supreme Court recently called them out on this – but on ONE other case.
US DOJ needs to look into ALL of these cases.
Meanwhile, last number I saw was 111 murderers freed and currently out and about in PA.
How else could it be? Judges don’t have the authority to conduct their own investigations. They can only act on the parties’ briefs. So if the parties are colluding what can the judge do?
Read what the PA State Supreme Court said and did about this.
The PA court didn’t do its own investigation. It had evidence provided to it.
